318 vs 328

i'm still looking for e36...but still confuse to select either 318 or 328....is there any much difference between thos two..coz i heard, 318 owner said that 318 only lack on pickup...but long distance not much diff with 328....anybody

difference between those two is like night and day la.. forget the 4 potters. real BMW's have at least 6 cylinders.

difference would be interms of power
1) Power
the 318 for normal drive is OK , but when comes to power you'll start crying when a Kuncil/ MYvi overtakes you at 180KMH..

2) Maintainance
much more cheaper to maintain a 4 potter compared to the 6 potter ... parts price would be slightly lower

3) road tax
318 rm400 , 325 rm 800 , 328 rm 1600

well hope some of this clears your mind and vison ...

if you're loooking for pick up and so on OR you're speed freak then get the 6 potter ...

well why the price for 328 much more cheaper than 318 ... cuz many malaysians are afraid of the road tax lerrrr ..so newbies will definately stay away from higher roadtax cars ....whereby makes the 318 a much more popular platform ....

The higher CC car always depreciate faster than lower CC car, another reason will be caused by the roadtax.

Nando - I don't think anyone drives BMWs cos they are economical cars. It's the HEART feeling - so go with the one you WANT.

Also, you get more HEART feeling with a 6 potter

nando, i am also looking an e36 too. If u don't mind the stick, then go for the 325i/328i.

perhaps it all depends on how thick is ya wallet .....

328 or even better look out for a 325 ... umm there is a manual 325 for sale by Vinode ...do look out for the thread in the classified ...

i gave up on my long lasting 318 m40 recently and started the next journey for the 6 potter .... reason behind was ..am getting old ...

a car that's been given so much of TLC, what much could you expect ..and a car like clockworks 328 is definately a car to get as you may come back to squre if you're gonna get another 328 from any of those used car alley out there ...

therefore if you wanna choose a headache free route ...then pay a little higher and get a car which could keep you away from all the workshops visits and so on ....

may I know what car are u driving now. Reason being, if 1 is driving a kancil then it's definitely obvious that the 2.8L engine will consume more petrol. Like a fren told me about this aunt who sold her 1990 charade manual 1.0 and upgraded to a Merc C200 complained how much petrol the merc is consuming compared to her old Charade..
