if you dont put the price, how ppl going to advise if its a value buy or not?

will the dealers allow you to take it to BMW for a checkup???? I doubt it. my preferance would be to buy from a direct owner who knows the history well. anyway good luck.

I would never buy from a dealer that does not allow me to take a car to check at my OWN workshop. All 2nd hand cars i have bought form dealers have allowed me to do so b4 buying.

at 95k for a 7 year old car....personally i wont get it...i rather get a new Focus 2.0 at 115k and have 5 year warranty. Faster more powerful then a 320i, safer as well

from my exp this E90 can 'harm' you from inside since they're quite well known for its electronic sensors etc. better not go for the looks only.

unless you're really in love with the car and fully equipped with money loaded pocket, then it's time to make some 'sacrifice'.

i've made mine, when yours? hehee :smokin:

so mean that i walk away from the car right??

since ur not able to bring d car to ur mecha, why dun u bring ur mecha to d dealer? considering its a 7 years old car, the leakage seems to be common prob so for mine. change sth few years back (cant recall what).

i wouldnt say a big NO for you to proceed, but its just for you to be aware of those risks.

actually i havent check with the dealer yet weather i can bring the car for a check up, but i think it shld't be a problem.just that i worry after check up, if d car need to repaid and ofcos they will promise to repaid. worry they just simply do the job and repair with not ori bmw parts. than it will bring a big headeach in my future....
actually repair the e90 not that expensive right??not saying whole gearbox replace...maybe oil leak....from astroboy thread, it seen like cheap repair as ard rm900+.
vacuum bump rm1100 seen like reasonable....

Jasjay,

Leaking issues on N46 engine for year 2005 car is common. Based on the aging factor and mileage run, those should be considered as wear and tear. To resolve a leak issues, I think you are quite aware on the cost. Roughly it should be in the region of 1-2k. Let say parts change/ repair involved is valve cover, vacuum pump is the most expensive but it's repairable, oil sump etc. other than that should be consider minor. Thing that you should pay attention is the valve seal. If you start the car and let it idle for 10-20 minutes and there is a white smoke from exhaust, then the valve seal need repair. The cost will be around 2-3k and as extensive as top overhaul.

sometime is really scary when see those nice car with all the engine leak problem.
actually i think of change brand to benz c230k, with the same year made, 2005 c230k-RM109k, 2005 e90 320i (not M sport)-RM89k~95k...
from what my mech told me, benz is much more stable than bmw (wear and tear part).
and from my wife concept, an 7 years old car (e90) selling at RM89k~95k still need to pay a lot to repair, seen like weird...
i still love the e90 outlook and the style, still the 1st choose for me to consider....
and the used car dealer promise to repair if i found out that the engine leak or vacuum pump problem.....
there should be quite lot of brothers here driving an e90 320i right???
dunno can have their feelback about this ultimate machine??
will they repair the engine leak, vacuum pump, will the problem come back within the same year or few months later??
ofcos nobody can guaranty the engine parts live spend...
i still study about this e90, so many thread (from chinese thread or others bmw forum) mention they had repair the engine leak and others problem but seen like these problem will appear on and off, like never ending story. some even mention spend over RM20k (chinese forum) within the same year and they decided to sell their car.
this kind of story really worry me.
i dun have any friend that drive an e90 but one of my close friend drive an e46 325i b4 (one year in hand) , he trade in his 325i for an new honda city, reason was he spend over 20k to repair e46 gear problem within a year....now he like free man. when he found out that i wanna change to e90 320i, u can imagine that people start telling u story....
so my heart up and down....stuck in the middle...wanna change car?? or keep my car (toyota altis 2002), or change to benz......
this question really bother me few months....still cannot get the answer....
