I'm eyeing this E90 320i 2007 model. Many questions to ask you guys:1. What is the common problem with this model?2. What are the must things that I must check?3. I'm going to AB for checkup. Is there any other reliable workshop close to KL that can do a good job, reasonable and check the maintenance record?Last, what are the steps/ procedure in buying used car from a person?thanks

Brother, just bring the car to a BMW specialist and use the computer to check if there are any faults. Make sure the car is not involved in a bad accident before and small ones are probably alright (depending on personal preference). I can recommend you BMW specialist shop and plugging in the machine would cost you RM50-80 for a health check.

thanks bro. I talked with M-Sport and Autobahn and both said that I should stay clear of E90 320i. It has too many gremlins. Best option is to get at least 323

leaks, rattling sound, jerking during stop and go. Try calling Jason (M Sport)/ Mr Tan (Autobahn) for more details. There will always be something to repair each month according to them. I check the service record for this particular car and guess what....the owner did complain about engine noise, rattling sound and jerking (still under warranty). AB has to do a major job to rectify these problems.

I believe one in a few BMW irregardless of model would probably have such problems :) It can be due to engine mountings, rubber parts in the car to harden, etc. Malaysia has a very hot weather and if you constantly park the car under the sun or drive during hot afternoons, things like window seals/trims, mounts will get hardened and eventually needs to be replaced. Window creaking is also another common problem not only for BMW but other cars too.

In my opinion, the most important thing is the electronics of the car. It is by far the most expensive parts compared to the rest (if it fails), lol.

i doubt all 320i having this issue...depends on the car maybe....mine still so far so good...

thanks

If you're getting a bank loan / hire purchase, then the bank officer would give you all the necessary steps.

I just sold one of my cars all I did was drive car to Puspakom for inspection (2-hour job), once inspection passed get the B5 & B7 forms and pass it to Buyer so that he could process the car loan. I'm now waiting for the fund to be released. And I guess that's it.

As for the car, I'd suggest you to get at least a 2.5L for better driving pleasure. All cars have their own minor and major problems as long as they can be fixed and the problem don't repeat I think that's fine.

I'd rather get a used car that has most if not all "problem" fixed than geting a new car with a bunch of "gremlins", whether they are good or bad.

And yes, pay a BMW specialist to touch the car.

Cheers.

It's definitely not on all cars because if it's a consistent problem for 80-90% of the model/car, BMW would've recalled or it's simply a serious issue :) I'm just trying to say that windows creaking and such is a common problem across many models. Other than that, it's a great car to drive. I'm glad yours is working fine because all these creaking sounds are just killing me, lol.
