Hi ndsolo, sorry to hear that you had so much problems with your ride, I was in your situation too few years back when I got a second hand Citroen ZX. Never ending problems especially with leaking and funny tantrums once a while. But each time problems pops up and I bring to a normal mechanic, sure will screw it up 2x. Until I found real experts. One set backs of our rides especially the conti cars is that it needs experts to pamper it. Why dont you try Mr. Selvam at Jalan 222. Dont get me wrong, I m not his salesman just that I ve just sent my bimmer to him for some major repairs, observing his work, he seems to know quite alot especially E46s. My 2cents opinion
Thanks for your response and much appreciated bro.
How long have you been going to Mr. Selvam? Any instances whereby you needed to go back to him after a repair? To be honest i don't mind paying for a job well done lah...end of the day if the mechanic has done his job very well then he deserves to be paid decently.
Talked to my cousins mechanic a short while ago and he told me that he did not change the alternator to keep costs down ah bro...how frustrating to hear that when he told me that he had changed it last week when my car was with him!!! Now I'm worried if he has swapped parts from my car...the reason I say this is because I had my alternator overhauled a month ago and they had inked some number on the alternator. I don't see then anymore but a yellow dot is there instead...sigh, lessons in life mate.
Anyway, his name is Muthu (workshop at the corner of bulatan Pahang) and I would definitely not recommend him to anyone, "go at ur own risk".
Hi ndsolo
Only recently I sent my ride to him, didnt do any major servicing before going to Selvam. The last I went to M Speed at Taman Mayang to get the normal 10K oil service, but didnt gave me the confidence to do any major one coz that garage couldnt even set back the milage to the ori 25K and blaming it on my speedo meter is faulty. Finally after chatting up with other bimmer bros mostly said Selvam is Ok so decided to sent it to him. After the seal change, it wasnt just one time process, to be honest i sent it back after the next day coz there was still signs of leaking (minor one) and good thing is that Selvam is patient and not those show face kinda garage and he warrantied the repair until its fixed. Plus point is also its accessible to where I work, he's at Jalan 222 and I work at PJ State. Importantly its the after service attitude. If the job is not well done its has to be admitted and not tai chi around and also no additional cost involved cos its agreed before the job commenced and it should be fixed at the agreed cost.
Thanx ivanblur...can please PM me his number and location? I will give him a try...to be honest, spent so much di but tak puas to drive the car at the moment bro...need to get it sortedd out mate.
hi,did ur car knocking sound went away already?or still there?
does it make sound whenever u applied brake or whenever u r in almost stop position as u approaching traffict lite, road bumps or junction?
Yeah Bro ndsolo, we would like to hear your conclusion to this problem. Every members problems with solutions would be good to be shared around in this forum. Thanks in advance.
Apologies for the delay bro. End of the day, knocking metal sound has gone, it was indeed the alternator. Changed a brand new Bosch atenator for RM2k. Check with Commer Range SB and they charge RM1k for Valeo brand.
Change second hand brake servo and master pump and the problem is coming back since about 4 weeks ago. Would try a new servo next round. Read in the forum that total cost with installation is app RM800.
