Dear Sifus,
Really need help ah...please please help....wanna pengsan di...so much of problem lah Sifus....
My cousin's mechanic came back with the following:
Brake Shhover RM1,200 (don't what this is yet, I think it's servo)
Air Mass Sensor RM750
Rear Arm RM380
Engine Oil & Filter RM160 (don't know what brand yet)
Wheel Alignment RM60
Labour RM380
He told me that he had change the alternator and and also the servo (both half cut). Took the car back on Sunday and at first ok lah, no krak krak noise and was really smooth. Steering was senget though.
Then yesterday night the krak krak noise came back and the fuel meter was moving up and down and a bit of jerking. I thought haiyoyo, finish lah....RM3k for this bill, spent RM4k 2 months ago...what is going on lah!! Dah lah I bought the car in early May this year but non stop repairs!!
Then I looked at my bill closely and realised that there is no mention of alternator. Also if the servo is RM1,200, that should be the price of a new servo!!!!
I have the following questions, please please help me sifus:
a) He change the rear arm because 2 weeks ago I had sent my car for alignment and the chap pumped the camber too. There was some noise from the tyre (very light klok klok klok which is in line with the tyre speed, not all the time though). Also steering was pulling and car felt wobly. My cousin's mechanic told me that BMW camber should never be adjusted and that is why he changed the rear arm. Klok klok klok noise came back this morning and steering pulling again with the wobly feeling!!! Is the mechanic bullshitting me ah bros? I remember reading on this site about other forumers having their camber pumped with no issues wan.
b) When returning the car, mechanic also told me that my front asorbers ko di. Half cut will cost about RM100-RM150 and with spring and mounting about RM250 lah. Actually I had checked with Soon Eng's branch in Malaysia and they said that BOGE front springs are RM160 a piece. Why go for half cut when I can get brand new for same price?? Is BOGE good enuff and original for e46? Can I maintain the current springs and just change the front absorbers and the mounting? I recall that ICEMAN 13 had mentioned in an earlier post that he is yet to come across a dead spring. True ah bros? Pokai di ah, gotta budget if possible.
c) Is it normal for Air Mass Sensor to give way at 80,000km (car will be 9 years in September)? I do recall reading on this site that some forumers had cleaned the sensor instead using MAF cleaner. I kena katok again? Is RM750 price for new sensor?
Thanks very much for your patience in reading and please help with your kind advice if possible.
