1990 E30M40 Chassis number

Are the numbers engraved on a small metal plate riveted to the passenger side shock tower and embossed on the windshield drain supposed to be the same as the chassis number printed on the JPJ vehicle registration card? Mine are different.

Where are the other locations of the chassis number?

bro...google bmw e30 chasis number and see under images......tons of pics for location of the VIN ...

and yes the chasis number must tally with the registratoni card....
