The boss can chat but a lot of BS. To solve my problem he even recommended Wurth cleaner products. For the benefit of doubt i spent the dough for him to proof it, wrong decision and the bottle of cleaner did nothing.

What we need is a experienced and technical foreman that fixes our issues and then later on can chat chat or BS as much as you want.

Any other good workshops in PG? I'm from PG but dunno much about Bimmer workshops *paiseh* :p as I have been happily servicing and repairing my car at Ipoh. Top service, cleanliness, modern facilities (GT1 every time), computerized billing and not to forget, solve my problems every time and better pricing than PG even you calculated your toll, petrol and breakfast & lunch. Yes, you hear that right.

Just this time I am exploring more of PG workshops due to time constraints but this one really caught me in surprise.

Bro Psy,

Join us for TT sometimes and we can chat, this weekend we are joining the Kuala Sepetang, Taiping drive. Join us.

In seberang there is also bayernz, for parts there is ban huat chan

On island, chu seng, zf, ka and another two which i dunno the name of (one close to McD green lane and another by ex chu seng)

Thanks Bro aidilj for the invitation. Very much appreciate it. I will find time to catch you all on future TTs if held in Butterworth side. But I'm just Club Guest and not OM

I usually also buy parts from Ban Huat Chan (for DIY) as it's near my place :) However I'm not familiar with other Bimmer workshops. Where is KA and the other 2 workshops? Which do you normally go?

Bro Psy, it doesn't matter if one is guest or member, all are welcomed for TT and drives. We do sometimes have TT in autocity starbucks, then drive/rempit back to the island.

Chu Seng - Sg Pinang/P Ramlee
ZF Auto - Gurney drive/Lorong Birch

Not sure if correct
KA Auto - Lebuh Bakau, George Town - https://foursquare.com/v/ka-auto-service-centre/4e339f9dd164be7ec59c73a0
Bayerische - http://wikimapia.org/26872174/Bayerische
Ah Chee - around here http://wikimapia.org/#lat=5.4032122&lon=100.3109707&z=19&l=0&m=b

I only go to ZF Auto

Thanks bro Aidilj. If you all have a Whatsapp group or some other communication group for TT, please let me know. If TT on weekdays or Saturdays I might be able to join.

Good list here. I have been to ZF Auto but didn't service my car there before. I also read on some feedbacks of ZF about its price. Saw some Cayennes there as well.

Just want to share my review of Happy Motor (Jalan Baru, Prai). I visited them last saturday morning due to my car has intermittent erratic idling and engine died subsequently.

They diagnose it with a wireless OBDII reader tool called "Launch" which I think it made in Taiwan. Never seen them use GT1. It came out as fuel trim error and the young boss is very sure that I should replace my Oil separator or CCV and it's related hosts. I was quoted RM 950 for the whole job by Poh Aik (young boss). We agreed and proceed.

Half way during dismantling, the foreman that is working on my car notice one host was missing (new hoses that is provided by Poh Aik was missing one) and told me that we're suppose to change 4 hoses not 3 only. Poh Aik had earlier passed to him 3 hoses + 1 oil separator. Later on Poh Aik came by and told me RM 950 does not include the other hose. I didn't feel good about this. I was expecting this place to be honest and not some hanky panky thing going on with the pricing. Spent RM1150 total for the job including a 2 hour labour cost of RM370! :motz:

The job completed and off i went. I didn't feel much improvement although the erratic idling stopped and no engine dying symptoms, however i still feel the erratic vibration during idle. I went back to Poh Aik after 2 hours and they couldn't diagnose what was wrong although there is a fault code, and kept mentioning that the oil separator replacement should solve the problem. I can also hear air hissing sound when you slightly throttle. Is that normal?

Overall I wasn't happy with the fix and definitely not satisfied with the pricing and it's my first time here.
did they clean the icv as well because dirty icv can create clog problem thus making car vibrate during idling. about the hissing sound, it started to come after i change the ccv. it's more like sucking instead of hissing and it can be heard clearly when engine is going off.

about the price, it's a little bit on the high side. i once quoted by BA for the ccv with complete 4 hoses for around rm550 but i ended up buying from ebay for less then rm350. shipped from the US and arrived in less than a week.

Thanks for the tip bro. No, they did not clean the ICV. They just clean the Throttle body which is still clean. I will try to DIY that myself after finding some guides on where it is and how to do it. It's even vibrating this morning even after the CCV replacement with all the hoses.

I still hear a sound when I off my engine. It's like a plane powering down it's jet engine, you know what I mean? I'm not sure if that's normal or it's a problem.

Thanks bro.

Hi, I just want to chip in that I service my car at Bayernz. In fact today I need to go there as my car shows transmission fault :( They told me it could be due to the solenoid sensor and needs replacement.
Bro Aidil, can I join the whatsapp group as I would love to join your next tt if i'm available. Thanks so much.

SP workshop

In SP there is one work shop called Elvin auto...at Taman Bersatu. Had been taking my car to them for sometime now. They diagniosed fast, show us proof with photo and you will be satisfied with the result. Very good service. They are Merc, Rover and BMW specialist..The brother used to work at BMW service centre it seems...

Hi bro coldman,

How do you rate them? Is the service/price/expertise up to your expectation? If you have an example of things to do and how much it was charged, it would be great.

Hi bro vramakr,

Thanks for sharing. Have you been to workshops in Penang that was earlier mentioned? Comparing to Elvin Auto, what do you think? in terms of service/price/expertise.

Thank you for sharing.

They are experienced but the charges are quite steep

Brake pad wear sensor FR $75
Repair kit brake pad FR (Textar) $290
Brake disc FR (BMW) $450 x 2 = $900
BMW Fully Sync 5W40 $60/litre x 7 = $420
Oil filter (BMW) $60
Fliter Catridge (Mahle) $110
Windscreen Cleaner (Wurth) $10
Labor cost $140
TOTAL: $2013 plus service tax

I got a quote to repair the transmission fault
Sealing sleeve (ZF) $120
Auto pan with filter (ZF) $450
Transmission fluid ZF6 75/litre x 8 = $600 (do we really need 8 litres?)
Solenoid valve $1890
Labor cost $270
TOTAL plus tax = $3,346.20

I think i need to check with some other mechanics to see if the prices are reasonable

If your repair can wait, you or anyone else who wants to tag along with me to Ipoh on a weekend if I'm going to my regular workshop in Ipoh, I can bring you all there. Just sharing a cheaper alternative which is equally experienced.

sifus, I'm planning to get 2007 E60 with 75k mileage...any good place to bring it for checkup before signed it off with the dealer? cheers

best if you contact and meet up with the penang chapter members like unstoppable_7, adilji to name a few. join them for tt then I am sure you will learn and gain more info that way
