People,Of all the things that could happen, my new car just got hit by a stone while travelling on the North South highway and there's now a hairline crack on the windscreen. This crack is growing an inch a day due to all the driving that I'm doing. So, I'm trying to lessen my usage of the car. I understand that I've got to put a glue to stop the crack from expanding. I was wondering whether there are any shops that anyone can recommend for me that will be able to do a good job to stop the hairline crack from expanding. Also, has anyone changed their new beloved F10 windscreen before at any BMW dealership? If so, how was the job quality?

:listen: Dr Cermin can help you stop the cracked from spreading bro. It will cost you no more than RM250/-. If in Kuantan, I can take you to a place that will only charged you for RM80+ for the same job. ...

cheers.

Thanks, dzuljazz2001. I'm currently not in Kuantan but had a look at the website and it looks promising. Will probably try the place out to stop the hairline crack. After that, will need to change the windscreen. :-(

got a question, let's say i have bought the insurance on windscreen with the car insurance together... when i claim for the windscreen, what will happened to my NCB???

I replaced my front windscreen every 18 months due to tiny stone chips. Anyway that is what insurance is for. Yes, it will not affect your NCB.

Wah change using insurance is it? What type of glass were changed to?

I'm surprised that the insurance companies will entertain claims based on small chips!

Yes, usually the shop will take care of it. I've managed to claim for the windscreen + tint film without problem.

Herbert,

Did you replace your windscreen at the BMW dealerships? Or through some other dealerships?

I replaced my front windscreen at Dr Cermin. It is hassle free i.e. just bring along your insurance policy, car registration card, IC, driving license and sign the relevant insurance claim forms. No payment at all and you get a new windscreen c/w tint.

Does it cover the rubbers if it needs changing?

Yes, including new windscreen rubber too.

Thats interesting. Anyway, I have currently specified RM2000 cover for windscreen in my insurance, and I need to renew my insurance next month. What is actually the cost to replace the E39 windscreen? How much should I cover it for?

Local made (MSG) front windscreen & rubber lining c/w labor charge is RM 950.00. Tinting will cost another RM500 depending on which brand. You will need to re-instate your insurance for front windscreen after making a claim. Re-instatement will cost you another RM300 for RM2k insured sum.
