Got a salesman try to convince me to buy e39 528 year 1997. He said single vanos no kacau and maintenance as low as Proton. Is that true ? Double vanos maintenance very high ? Comment pls ......................

Going with the salesman's logic, then double vanos maintenance should be double. Single vanos maintenance should even be cheaper than Proton, more like maintaining a 650 cc Kanchil.

I use to own a E39 528i single vanos since 1997 till 2006 ( wonderful & powerful car to drive, all rounder).
Engine maintenance is not expensive, just replace the wear & tear parts that occurs in all cars and you should be ok.
Just bear in mind that you are looking to buy a second hand car, parts in second hand cars will break down sooner or later, have a budget for it. Or alternatively, buy the car, ask a workshop to change what is necessary. Want to view nice car, post your email, perhaps I can send your some shots for your benchmark. Good luck in your search.
I now own a E39 530 double vanos and dont feel the difference between maintaining a single, unless you got vanos problem, then it will become a single or double issue.
For exam[le, if you need to change 4 tyres, or radiator, or bushes, tell me the difference?

I will get the car this Saturday. Sure i will share the picture later dont worry. Spec is japanese BMW e39 523 1999/02 without electric seat.

My e39 cost me RM58k year 99/02. So if you looking for 99/04 the price should be same or less due to manufactured in year 1999.If the salesman not giving you this price then try to press down the price or dont buy the car.

What bugs do you have? So far i've not encountered any bugs, all mechanical failure from wear & tear only.

what model is your E39?
Curious, if you are willing to pay 58k to a salesman for the car, why didnt you buy Initial M car which is a very powerful E39 and well taken care.
I am sure you are no newcomer to this site and you will notice his posting and pics of his car, anyway happy and safe driving.

I am not interested for M car. I dont like powerful car as well. I just looking for the model that i like only. If can , if the car is fuel save and environment friendly then is the best choice. Of course must in my budget.
