Hi everyone, its time to change my e90 valve seal and do top overhaul. Anybody can share the cost and workshop location. Please.. need urgent response from you guys... thanks

Try M.S Motor at Sg Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin or Power Booster & Air-Cond Service at Kuchai Entrepeneur park. Just went to Power Booster recently and they were doing a lot of top overhaul on a few E90s.

Bro Fuza, what's your mileage like? Is the white smoke due to condensation or you actually have a leak? In other words, if it's a persistent thing (not just when engine is cold), then you probably need that top overhaul. Have you done a compression test to confirm it?

White smoke is not persistent but actually during rev. My engine oil have to top up every 3K

hi moots, mileage 90k. I dont think its major. I was told that I have to change the valve seal due to engine oil consumption.

from my understanding, if it's only when engine's cold but clears up when engine's warm, that's due to condensation. not a cause for concern. must also look out for coolant loss.

No need top overhaul as most places don't have the special tools to change the valve seals.Mine after change for 4 months no need top up at all.

yup.. classic text book scenarios. valve seals. i will shop around a few workshop till i find a spcialist that have he correct tool and no need overhaul. if they dont, probably not good enough to invest in a proper tool to do the job.

Same as etquah, changed my valve seals at my 5+ year, about 93k km mileage. Oil loss is 1L per 2 tanks of petrol. Occasional white smoke, not very obvious and no wet tail pipe.

Now so far so good.

Most workshop would advise top overhaul because they can inspect the piston ring condition and charge customer RM2999 to RM4999. You save half is just change valve seal but most workshops worry problem not solved and can't collect money, so reluctant to take the chance. If piston rings fail, compression test will tell.

Either downgrade your engine oil to semi (oil burn reduce but don't solve the white smoke issue)

Changed my seal plus bought a new battery.. total price not even Rm2000.. ..

I got a quote from Motoren Sunway PJS7 for valve seal change - RM1,600. I think you should do that first before top overhaul.

Not sure my issue as same as discussed here..

Previously the car come out smoke while idling ... even more if rev

Change few gaskets (probably the valve gasket as discussed above) at Optimum kayu ara for total RM625.30 and the smoke gone !
My case is not that worst nightmare, only change 2-3 gaskets which cost me a small hole in my pocket.

OK OK speaking too soon, now the car still burn some oil and white smoke appear again. Optimum quote me RM4.5k for top overhaul and thats the only way to solve it they said. I'm curious now, should I do the top overhaul or should I change some other parts first? Advise needed..

By the way, the car mileage now at <75k km and age at 5 years... seriously 5 years need top overhaul??

Sorry to disturb here. I got my car e90 on last year. And I'm having the same problem that engine oil consumption. I bring it to regas auto premium and they told me that I need to do top overhaul n it will cost me 7.5k. I jz wondering if I buy the gasket n valve seal myself and ask garage do it for me, how much will it cost to me?

Btw, I m from sibu, Sarawak. So that's why it's difficult for me to get a trust worthy garage here. Any good spare part dealer to introduce at west Malaysia, so that I can save my money a lot. Thanks...

not necessary u need a top overhaul, some members had the same problem as u, they just changed some oil seals & done,
spent only bout rm1.5-2k max.

My Bmw 320i lci have same problem white smoke came out current mileage 119k( 3years and half). Anyone good reasonable workshop recommend? As discussion earlier thread, is just change valve seal?
