Hi guys,

After 1 year plus reading this forum on the diesel and F10, I finally decided to take the dive and took delivery of my Alpine White F10 520d two night ago .

Took the car for its first shower and realized water vapor or condensation forming inside of the light head. Sales advisor informed me when I took the car that's it's normal. Apparently there are gaps in the light head for the light head to release the heat generated from the Adaptive LEDs.

Is this normal? Anyone experience this? Did the water vapor or condensation eventually go away? Looking forward to your replies coz if it's not normal, I am gonna demand for a replacement. Please advise. Many thanks.

A little misty condensation is normal and should go away when driving and lights switched on (refer page 239 of manual). What's not normal is when water droplets form or worse, you start seeing goldfish swimming around ;)

Kuntakinte, goldfish I am not worried... its when I see piranhas then I get worried. Just tint the car yesterday and placing the car under the hot sun now. Will monitor the situation.

I had mine replaced after reporting it to BMW Malaysia with pictures of many water droplets within the housing...massive internal condensation and that's not normal. If you are unsure, drop them an email with the pictures and they will judge it from there.

You went to 3M tint kuchai lama? Got the package I told you? If not, I'll screw the fella.

So, how's the drive so far? Any vibration felt on the steering and seats or headrest between 100-130kmh?

Yep, large water droplets are not normal. I did had some misty evaporation after a hot and humid rainy drive around when I reached home. It dissipated after a couple of hours. Referred to the manual and apparently, it's expected. So, I'll let it slide for now..

Yes bro if it goes after a couple of hours then its okay...mine stayed there for almost a week..

Q_Mika,

Yours looks serious. There are waterdroplets. Mine only have the water vapor like mist in the light head but never water droplets. I checked with service center, if water droplets you could demand for a replacement.

Do let me know how it turns out.

Yours Faithfully.

Hi seancorr, wow, that's really bad. Did the water vapor issue come back after they changed a new head lamp for you?

Nope so far so good, guess BMW needs to send its prototypes to Bolehland to test in our adverse tropical weather before launching a new model!

Due to this problem I had to fork out to re-tint my new headlight...

Hi Alif,

It's difficult to access your photo as your car is wet and it's difficult to determine if the water droplets are out or inside of the light head. Suggest that you wipe the surface dry and take a photo.

The mist or water vapor apparently is normal as there are holes at the back of the light head for ventilation for the hot lights. Unless yours is as severe as our bro seancorr whereby the water vapor turns to large droplets of water, then there is nothing to worry about.

The BMW service will only change it if there are water droplets or water stains in the light head. Perhaps persistent will also get you a new light head. If you manage to get it changed, let us know.

Dear all Tai Ko here

Is mine 1 consider very serious?

Please advice.

Thank you.

Coolsboys81, I reckon you just got your car! Congrats as I have the same Alpine White and also had the same issues with the light head. Last I checked with service center, after the water evaporates, if there are water marks or water droplets inside the light head, they will send for warranty claims. So please monitor after the water evaporates and check for water droplets or water marks inside the light head. Mine had similar problem but after evaporated, looks ok.

Do let us know if you managed to changed the light head.

Thanks bro YF!

Just got my car 3 days ago...the water droplets still there and I had made complaint to my SC.

Will send it to Quill for checking next week and let the service guy to check whether need to replace a new set or not.

I will update here if managed to change d light head.
