Great could share & compare to others brand in car... I reading all about the topics here in S40 2.4i.. If that about S40 2.4 is so great then you guys shoul dmore consider on V50 with more than 200HP... Talking about the riding power V50 always over than S40 2.4i.... But if Malaysia can imported S40 2.4T5 then everything goes off.. Yes, instead of interior BM will solid than it... but since Volvo For Life it is concern their internal friendly & safety purpose... S40 2.4 with 8 airbags with such a compress model... can check that www.euroncap.com

v50, S40 and 3 series are all not value for money. s40 nothing to shout about, can't understand the attraction other than, ooh i must drive a euro cars. 3 series is slow, overpriced and extremely common. v50 is supposedly fast. I have driven one, frankly is not that fast and has got a driving dynamic of a house.
Get Subaru Legacy GT or Golf GTI, for that price if you are serious abt driving and if you must drive a brand new car

Anyway, this guy is asking for opinions of Volvo cars. Yeah V50 looks good. Who cares if it handles like a banana. Volvo cars are not meant to be fast cars, more like a family sedan to me and as long that is the main requirement, I think it will fit in pretty well.
If you are looking for a fun car, then get the Golf Gti, New Mini Cooper with turbo and probably the 130i. All these cars are faster than alfa's equivalent.

Yes, V50 it's very look like a banana car which is Volvo always concern the Wagon Style... I suggest there should change the center eggcrate & emblem like S40 2.4 more pretty..
But 222K all completely such a smaller car... Maybe good if u owe along money u take your V50 enough to runaway... ha ha ha... Like normal police car maybe cant challenge it... but maybe perdana V6 i dont know.... Once a time Volvo police car can chase as many illegal racer on the highway... Even the driver got lost control I hope the Volvo can make them "Volvo For LIfe" he he he

i don't think the V50 has a driving dynamics of a house..i think it handles pretty well given the estate config.plus it shares its platform with the new Ford Focus,which is a sweet handling car in itself.
don't expect the V50 to handle like a hot hatch,cuz that'll be silly.
i quite like the V50 T5..cuz its got a small snail-like thingy bolted on to the engine..

I had the opportunity to test the V50 with a friend over a weekend as guest writers for a local mag, and we both found the car to handle pretty well for a front wheel drive car. (The other writer is a known champion race driver in the local circuit).
We did hear about the handling gripes of some other journalists at the time, but what was interesting was that when we first collected the car, the tyre pressures were found to be at a crazy 19psi front and 40psi rear! To be fair, we did not collect the car direct from Volvo, but from a trade publication. Though the car we tested had the standard suspension, there is a sports pack available as an option, which should be better suited to enthusiastic drivers.
I was not paid by Volvo or the mag for my article. Though I have had my share of bad experiences with the local Volvo service centres, I stand by my findings. The V50 is really a surprising package that warrants a second look.

Maybe I'm new to the club, but does anyone else think this is just too weird?
Volvos are FWD and most people who drive one wear their pants above their belly buttons. Enuf said!
