Hi, All Guru My front brake vibrates as I step on the brake pedal. Also, the brake don't feel grippy as before.I've have both my front discs skimmed about 2 months back and replace with new ferrodo high performance brake pad. Anyone can advise? If not, can I purchase the e46 330i front brake calliper and disc & modify & install to my e36? Anyone have done it before? Is it possible and worthwhile?

its not advisable to skim your disc, and since you have already skimmed them its not unusual that your brake are not efficient due to the lack of mass required to decipate the heat generated by the brakepads. so even though you have change them to ferodo pads or even any other, its just a waste as the disc could not cope with the added heat from friction generated by these performance pads. anyway, how are the conditions of your rearbrakes? have you check them recently? an inbalanced brake setup will greatly increase the braking distance of any car.

you should first of all replace the disc with new ones, try to get the original disc or a good oe ones like ATE. make sure you do a proper wear in process for the pads and disc. replaced all fluids and bleed the system. you should be good to go.

the original brake setup is more than efficient to stop your car. adding too much front bias braking ie:- changing to 330 or other BBK will just affect the balance of the system. you front wheels will skid first before any sufficient grip is generated.

will 330 brakes bolt on without any modification? yes, however they are not easy to come by and cost wise, IMHO they are not worth it. anyway you will need the correct master pump to correctly match the setup as well, or you will find yourself pushing further to achieve the same stopping power as before.

Hi, leforte

Both the front & rear discs are skimmed & changed new ferrodo brake pad.
Also, full bleeding was done. Seems that the braking effect is not as great as I'll expected like you have mentioned.

Alternatively, I'll look for e36 M3 callipier and disc. Then buy the new disc and brake pad and redo the bleeding.

Will i be able to install the e36 M3 brake pump? How complex is the mod?

Also, any significant improvement in braking if I replace all the stock brake hose to stainless Steel brake hose?

E36 what model. You can do the E46 330i brake conversion or just buy ATE power disc with groove and ATE brake pads this also will do.But if you want the ultimate i have 1 set of brembo disc and calliper fpo E36.

Hi, Redbaron

Wat model is yr brembo? how many pot & can it clear my 17" rims

Don't wanna change to 18". I prefer to retain my 17" rims as the earlier 2 brake kits can clear & installed to my rims.

skmt, the e36 M3 calipers are not a bolt-on affair and adaptors are not possible - they will require different hub carriers, i.e too much effort and not worth it.

e46 330 brake conversion is best value for money conversion, but not exactly cheap either.

Best thing to do in your situation is to get some quality discs, new pads and bleed the entire system with quality fluid. The best mod for extra end-of-pedal bite, improved feel and accurate modulation is some braided brake hoses (Goodridge) on all four corners.

I did exactly that and it bites so hard that I can trigger ABS on a flat road even in the dry. The only drawback is still brake fade under intense use, but that rarely occurs under normal circumstances unless I push it. So 90% of the time, it is good enough.
