Mine is 528i and recently the car prompted me that my tyre pressure drop below normal. I went and pump air into with the reading of 200 BUT the car still says that the tyre is still under the limit. What reading should I used?

If you follow the recommended tyre pressures, it should be 250 or more, depending on load

dont forget to recalibrate the tyre pressure monitor on idrive when you are done

I pump 230 for front and 250 for rear. You just need to reinitialize tyre once if you maintain the same pressure.

I followed your suggestion and recently low pressure again. However, after putting in 230 and 250 respectively, the system still says that my tyre pressure is low. The warning wont go away. I dont think we need to reinitialize everytime we pump air right?

You have to press and hold the TPMS button to reset it every time when you change your tyre pressure. Or else the TPMS will not function properly.

Not reset it using the Vehicle Status function? I told press once and then it will read the pressure and store it. When you said press and hold, any indication to tell me to release my hold?

Sorry bro. I got confused with my other car. Yes for BMW it's using the iDrive. Hahaha my apology.

If the tyre is low in pressure after putting in air I would check for a puncture

I normally inflate all my tyres to the same pressure and when if one tyre takes in more air than the others during the next refill then something must be wrong with that tyre and a closer inspection is then necessary.

FYI I tried not to initialize after pumping and the car will beep like mad and the iDrive screen will show a message asking you to initialize it before you drive....at least this applies for the F30.

After pumping in air, reset the reading, been 2 days already and still no warning. I dont know whether its the system problem or not.

No warning after reset does not necessary mean your TPMS is not working. I think there should be an error code if your TPMS malfunction. If your TPMS is working and no warning means that there is no significant difference in the tyre pressure between all the 4 tyres, ie. no loss of pressure from any tyre.

You could also test if your TPMS is functioning by deflating one tyre and drive for a short distance to see if the warning signal comes on. Of course try this test near a petrol station or tyre shop.

According to the iDrive, the TPMS (at least in F30) measure the change of wheel height relative to other wheels. If one of the wheel height is lower due to loss of pressure it will send the warning to the display. There is a video animating how it works.

I always thought it directly measure the tyre pressure in theory. To check one day I pumped all tyres to 45psi, reinitialize the TPMS, then lower the pressure on one tyre to 30psi. Drove for 10km and no warning whatsoever.

So how do I check if my TPMS were not accidentally 'omitted' when tyres changed in a shop. Will the iDrive pickup missing TPMS?

I don't think the TPMS works on the height of the tyre. Our tyre moves up and down as we drive on the road. I think it works on how fast one wheel turn in relation to the other wheels. When one tyre is low is pressure, it will have to turn faster than the other wheels and this will trigger the TPMS.
