Anyone did a K&N air filter for the 320d? Is it a big improvement?

chief, will it make much difference with a turbocharged engine? could probably add a few horses boost with colder air intake...but an upgraded intercooler would make a bigger difference in cold-air intake into the engine .....which is what the powerkit includes!
hmm..but for tuning box users, the heatshielding from the k&n's could make a big difference! hehe

K&N doesn't cool the air, it makes the engine breathe easier because air can go through with less resistance. At least in theory it should improve turbo engines much more than NA engines whether there's a powerkit or not :D especially if you go for the pod style filters according to AlBundy

chief, agree with you on improving airflow, however on turbos, with the air rammed into the engine, we may not see as much of an improvements compared to an NA.
K&N released some info on turbo intake design, check this link out.

Thanks for the link. I don't have any experience with K&N filters to begin with. Was just listening to AlBundy explaining the benefits of K&N filters several weeks ago.

bro, i don't claim to be an expert at all, so the topic is open for more discussion! thanks for initiating the topic, and soliciting feedback. i for one would love to see if we could get a bit more grunt from our N47s with improving the air intake.
the chat with Bundy would have been at the souped up oil burner TT yes? darn it, i missed that one.

does anyone else have any experience with swapping out to intake airflow guides/filters on their turbocharged engines?
