Hi bros,Been doing some troubleshooting with my car: Engine refuses to start after crank - occassionally it will fire up and die back again after 2-3 seconds.Checkpoint 1: Is the fuel pump working?I checked a valve at the fuel rails, pressed it and fuel squirted out. Cranked the car once (it died). Check that valve again and there was fuel squirting out.FUEL PUMP OKCheckpoint 2: Is the crankshaft position sensor working?Pulled out a spark plug cable and attached a spare spark plug and earthed it. Cranked the car and the spark plug was sparking.CRANK POSITION SENSOR OKSo what could this be then? There's only one thing left: Stuck AFM. But I just changed it :smokin:Hope to hear your input on this bros...

Hi bros,

Checkpoint 1: Is the fuel pump working?
I checked a valve at the fuel rails, pressed it and fuel squirted out. Cranked the car once (it died). Check that valve again and there was fuel squirting out.
FUEL PUMP OK

Checkpoint 2: Is the crankshaft position sensor working?
Pulled out a spark plug cable and attached a spare spark plug and earthed it. Cranked the car and the spark plug was sparking.
CRANK POSITION SENSOR OK

So what could this be then? There's only one thing left: Stuck AFM. But I just changed it :smokin:

Hope to hear your input on this bros...

Were you in a heavy rain prior to this bro? Leave the car in a hot dry environment for awhile. Trying starting it after abt 1 hr and if it starts, hold on to the accerelator for abt 30 secs. See if that works....:4:

check your batery terminals...could be loose.. normal to happen...

Car has been garaged for 2 weeks already so any moisture should be gone... will try pressing the accelerator.

Will check on that and get back - unlikely though as I have another car jumping starting me as well.

FUEL PUMP OK

what you were checking only shows that the pump is working/pumping. what it doesnt shows is that your pump could be failing and LOW IN PRESSURE. the engine with a failing pump may be running rich intermittently, the fuelling is yoyo-ing between rich/lean, fouling the plugs. advised to get the fuel pressure tested or just bring it to the shop.

Checkpoint 2: Is the crankshaft position sensor working?
Pulled out a spark plug cable and attached a spare spark plug and earthed it. Cranked the car and the spark plug was sparking.
CRANK POSITION SENSOR OK

from all your previous foul starts, a possible failing pump, and fuel flooding the combustion chamber, your current installed sparkplugs may be all fouled . using a spare plug does not show this. removed and inspect all the plugs in the engine, use a sandpaper to clean the electrode tips n re-gap if required and try starting again.

So what could this be then? There's only one thing left: Stuck AFM. But I just changed it :smokin:

explanation in red.

Immobility after a long period of time will created unnecassary condensation, especially in our HUMID atmosphere.
So, is problem slove stig from all the feed back gathered?

hows it goin? does your engine firing up stig? try to rev up the engine. if black smoke coming out, your afm stuck

agree with leforte,

at the time my fuel pump kaput the fuel was squirting oso. after replacing it with new one the problem solved.. :)

Hi all, problem fixed :)

The issue was a very thin hairline crack at the pump fuse - I missed that when doing a quick inspection. Remind me to run a continuity test with my multimeter next time!

Also solved my other problem: Stuck/locked steering wheel!
