Pls help...i called my car dealer n he say beginning of May jux replace new front brakepad for my car, izit they forgot sumthing to set or do after change brake pad but from day 1 (10/5/2012 ) until now everything is ok except today...

What's the symptoms? Does the brakes feel hard or just goes down all the way? Your car could be leaking fluids somewhere like the brake hose rupture or it needs a good proper bleeding.

I have experience it before, and replace my brake servo and master pump, also my dsc unit is not good, having error whild doing the diagnostic (pressure sensor plausibility)... i try to pump few times on the brake to slow it down. After bleeding the brakes there are alot of air in in as well...i am using a E90 325i year 2006

Bro, estimate how much u repair it ?? Hopefully can claim OPAL insurance if really having tis issue...

jux call one bmw workshop at usj 1, he suspect my disc rotor too thin after skim, anyway today is holiday, so monday only can check.. if really too thin, need to cost rm 800 for a pair of new disc rotor...

i think installing issue after tge skimming job. i guess the mech never bleed the brake oil of air properly.

Not safe to drive the car now. You can pop up the hood & have a visual inspection of the brake fluid levels. It's probably very low. Most MV insurance has free towing services. Probably your brake hose ruptured during your brake disc service.

yes u r right , i will call OPAL Insurance car towing to send my car to work shop tis coming Monday..

Don't think it's got anything to do with the disc being skimmed. Worn down or thinner disc don't cause this problem. Common mistakes by most mechanics during servicing of brake pads and skimming disc is that they leave the whole brake caliper hanging there by the brake hose. Mind you these brake hoses are probably there since the car left the factory which could be 10 years already.

Ever tried holding those calipers with your hand? It weighs 3 - 4 kgs each. Skimming is usually done at independent machine shop. So the entire process to complete the task could take up to as much as 3 -4 hours. Can imagine the stress that it causes to those old hoses with the 3 - 4 kgs hanging there for so many hours.

The experienced mechanic will have a suitable iron rod to hang up those calipers while servicing is being carried out on brakes.

hi Vincent, thx for ur reply, so wat should i do now? ask or advise mech to check my hose or change d old brake hose ??

If I were you I would have the car towed to the trusted mechanic. Let him run through the issues & see what he has to say. What I have suggested are only the probably causes based on the symptoms and my experience.

Maybe you want to be around when the mechanic work on the car. That way you know that he can't BS you and at the same time you can learn a few tips.

Brake hoses aren't very expensive while bleeding is just labour and maybe 1 or 2 litres of brake fluids.

Brake disc/rotors has a thickness margin of safety indicator at the ventilated holes of the rotor. Replacement is a must when that level is reached. Otherwise the rotors should still be good unless it is badly scorched or badly wrapped.

Ngyk4949, I totally agree with the advice given by Vincent. This is a potentially very risky situation. Your life, your family members, and those of the public are at stake should the brake suddenly fail while on the road. Have the car towed to a competent workshop and the problem rectified at the earliest time possible.

thx bro...im new to bmw, still looking for good n experience workshop to check my problem.. anyone know Proauto glenmarie u1/49 or k & s auto usj 1, which one better ??

thx Herbert, i had go through that workshop list but none of them are under OPAL AUTO MART INSURANCE Authorised workshop panel...Anyway thx for ur help...
tq...

Braking system is not covered under Opal Auto Mart extended warranty right? If that's the case I don't see any point in sending to their panel.

I don't know of any reliable workshop in Klang, but if you are willing to travel a bit further, then you can consider Motoren in Sunway. Boss name is George 0123072219 cool guy who has been in BMW repairs for about 20 years.
