Hi experts, I just ordered an AP unit BMW E60 530i LCI. As this is also considered a used car, I might want to replace the pad or braking if possible but I've no experience when it comes to BMW's. My questions are:1. Anyone can share what are some good brake pads which we can change? Some suggestions on brand/model/approximate pricing?2. For FWD cars, the front brake pads worn off faster than the rear but in this case, does the rear brake pads finish up faster? Thanks for the help :) The rationale behind "approximate pricing" is so that I have an idea. As we all know, some mechanics and shops quote ridiculous cut throat prices.

Welcome to the world of the E60 aoch88.... :top: ... if you based anywhere near Subang, maybe you might want to pm JYazid. I believe he can advise you nicely on the pricing that you want to know :4:. ...

The last I had my rotor n pads changed (last July), it was almost 4 times cheaper than the price quoted by AB. Had it done at Subang and JYAzid was the one who assist in sending the car for the changes. :top:

Thanks boss (dzuljazz2001 & bmwjackiee36) :D Actually I'm not trying to upgrade Brembo or something grand. I would just like to understand that assuming I change my pads, what's a good brand to opt for? Previously for my Honda, I can go for aftermarket pads like EBC, Ferodo, Endless, etc but who makes for BMW's? How about the discs as well? Do we have specific aftermarket brands or go with original better?

what is posted here are all aftermarket brands specific for udm's .... there are quite a few outlet (Sunway / Jln Ipoh / Bangi) tht carry those parts ... I will try and get details for you soon :top:

zimmerman and TRW is OEM and does not require caliper change....

Price is cheap..... Especially TRW...

Zimmerman is nearly the same price for Ori but with slotted and cross drill

Thanks guys and now I have an idea about brands, lol. Price wise I'm still unsure but I hope it wouldnt cost a fortune. Any good shops to introduce besides cut throat shops in Sunway? My unit is AP UK so I think the rotors and pads need a change :(

Aoch88,

You can call these few spare parts shops for pricing. Give them your VIN number so that they can give you the correct prices for your parts.

1. Bavarian Auto - (03) 7876-5555
2. Bomin Auto - (03) 6251-3613
3. SuanHuat - (03) 7877-3309

Above are reputable BMW stockist for original & OEM parts. As for disc rotor & pad, I would suggest that you go for original.

Wow, thanks bro Hakim & Herbert :) The "H" guys are marvellous. Btw, do we need to re-program if we change the brakes or discs?

It will also be wise to check the ABS sensors when replacing disc rotors & pads. No need to re-program unless there are error codes. Please go to an experienced BMW workshop for your repairs and/or replacement of parts.
