In the bonnet of my UDM,I must have tar and sap remover and tissue papers.Everytime I see a bird dropping on the car,I just spray it from the can and wipe it with tissue papers.Very clean and fast.Even the hardened dropping dissolved almost immediately.I like to share this experience here because I use to look for place with water to clean off the unsightly dropping,i am sure all of us want to get rid of it immmediately conviniently easy.I use turtle wax tar and sap remover cost me about RM10.By the way I also use it to remove tar once every three months. Hope some one benefit from my ranting here..May be some one can also share his or her experince about fighting bird droppings and tar..

These bird dropping damn acidic and damaging to paint job.... I believe prevention is better than cure. I always avoid parking under a tree if possible. I keep a huge bottle of water in the bonnet. Wash off as soon as possible before it eats into your paint job. Bug n tar remover also a good idea...

BTW, one of the worst places to park where bird droppings are concern is along the main road just outside TMC....

It's a good practice, but just a note, tissue paper scratches paint. Get a soft microfibre instead for this task. :D

I use the soft tissue papers because it is disposable.i don't think it will scratched the paint if you just wipe off gently the dissolved dropping, there is no need to apply force at all if you just wait for a while for the foam to react with the dropping.its good tho to remember that tissues paper can scratched.Precaution like not parking under trees is good practice but you might get lucky, many times I got bombed from the free flying birds while driving..

i carry water all the time along as wiping bird poo's with tissues at times are fatal ...cuz some poo's have got some very fine stones or would say hard substance ....therefore i rather use water to disolve the poo and avoid wiping with tissues .....

I usually get rid of it with a combination of water (always carry a couple bottles of mineral water - can drink or use to clean) and wet wipes (can use for personal hygiene or vehicular hygiene). Plus I also have a couple pieces of microfiber cloth in the boot.

Most of my victim experiences have been while driving (not under trees) and getting dive bombed. Your chance of getting dive-bombed increases exponentially the cleaner/shinier your car is. Highest chance of getting hit is right after you have your car detailed! :p

Bird dropping is less corrosive compare to lime stone contained water that drop down from a concrete car park ceiling.. prolong dropping of such will turn into stalagmites..

I only clean my bird poo once a week when I wash my bimmer on Saturday, unless its over my freshly washed surface on the same day. Make sure u have wax or polymer over your paint surface which work as a good paint protection coating btw I'm using PG Polymer wash. The Polymer work well over my windscreen as well with beading effect almost like Rain-X..

Then U must be careful when u park at basement Corus Hotel. There are few parking lots notorious for that lime dripping.Once I called up a young girl to tell her not to park in one particularly dangerous spot, she got scared and ran away maybe she thought I found her sexy..

Very true. Also, I also try to avoid parking in covered carpark spot where there are pipes above the lots. Some of them contain some chemical which stains paint and glass... my E34 kena last time... cannot come out... :( Also, water from aircond unit also not good.

Heheh... finding parking in KL/PJ already difficult enough..... still gotta look out for all these "dangers"...

Yes, that is sad that these days the situation is not as safe as before until we automatically view everyone we don't know as a potential threat until proven otherwise. Hope you didn' take offense at my remark; I just thought maybe you pulled a Joey Tribbiani on her and said, "How you doin'?" one too many times :)

Anyway back on topic: Sometimes at underground car parks, we also have to be wary of the emergency sprinklers. Once I parked under one set of sprinklers for a whole day, and it turned out the sprinklers were dripping liquid that left a whitish stain on my car bonnet (ya, I know what some of you are thinking right now). It took a few wet wipes and water to get it out.

For birds 'attack', I dont carry anything with me. But whenever theres droppings on my car, my next visit to fill up my petrol, I will just pour the water that the petrol station normally put beside their petrol pump, go pay at the counter, fill up my petrol. By the time I'm done the thing is already soften and I can just wipe out easily with their glass cleaner provided.

I have a meg ultimate quick wax and a bottle of diluted meg car wash ever ready. I kena once at my car booth with bird dropping (sitting on the wires and not trees :) )under hot sun and for few hours it has 'sat' permanently on the clear coat. Tried DIY myself, used scratch x, nxt, gold glass, meg clay, autoglym and only able to remove partial stains.
Still can see the stains from some angles, proly need KCs help on this.

I think that's a good idea. I should get a bottle of diluted car wash and have it ready just in case. It should do a better job than all those wet wipes I've been using. Thanks.

I tried few times to clear the bird's bomb with bottled water.ended up messing the whole car, must have plenty of water to wash the whole things. So far I have not notice any scratches due to soft tissues that I use to gently wipe off the sprayed residue
