To get a Z3 or not to??

Yo! Bro.

This will be a bias answer. I've waited 12 years to get my hands on one since Bond, James Bond - Mr Pierce Brosnan drove it in GoldenEye in 1995.

I have also recently visited the Zetrum in South Carolina to see the very first handbuild Z3 for the movie. (talking about chasing dreams)

I had a Miata and a 206. Miata is a fun little car, but if you get that, you wouldn't be on this forum. www.mx5my.com

As for the 206, she will get sick every six months and spend more time in the garage than on the road.

I've also driven Boxster S and 911 Cabrio on track. Problem with the Boxster is that you are announcing to the world that you can't afford a 911. And as for the 911, you need skills as well as a deep pocket.

A used Z4 is about the RM200k mark... not an impossible target. I believe that Z3 will keep it's value better than Z4. This is because it was launched during the Asian Financial Crisis. Limited Units in town. While grey imports are flooding the market with Z4, that's no good for value keeping.

But a Z3 is not only easier to maintain, easier to drive. It's an instant classic. It's more to a Great White Shark than a Hammer Head Z4. But most importantly, you will be driving a legend, an movie icon (first Bond's BMW) for years to come. This, to me, is something what Z4 cannot attain, let alone other roadsters. Well, unless you get a Z8, but then again I think there are none in Malaysia.

So LONG LIVE to the BMW Z3

This is the very Original Bond's Car.

The number plate is actually a real one. The State of South Carolina issue this one and only road legal number plate SC 007.

Cool eh!

Bro, if you r planning to use the intended Z3 as a daily car and have qualms about having to park in public/alley car park, then I wud suggest you reconsider it. O'wise, you'll feel perpetually restricted!

I only drive my Z4 during weekends and would only leave the car in full eyes' view!

To work, a more sensible and practical car lar...

Z3 : CUTE, COOL, NOT MANY ON THE ROAD,
Whether you love it or hate it, Z3 is a Bond car and I own one. Hehe!

Z3 is a good looking car, find one softtop come with a hardtop. If not buy one hardtop retrofit kit.

Just to add on: Best buy Z3 will be the facelift generation, last batch of production from 2000 - 2002. Its 2.2i cc, using M54 engine same as E46 320/325 engine, better BHP around 170, wider hip detail as they call it "widebody", this a little bit like Porsche butt...Sexy and also aerodynamic. They reckin this beast is the best Z3 refinement if not close to Z4. Cool ha!!

i recently kena RACUN kau kau by a fren who own a z3,but actually i hv been a secret admirer :love:eek:f this car since the bond movie:wink:....... looking for 1 now,but need help from all the good people from here...what to look at or take note when test driving & viewing this z3?? thanks in advance

I bought another Z3 yesterday. At Shell Station for RM5.50 :top:

Including James Bond Display stand... haha.

There's always 3 main consideration when buying a car.

1. Malay point of view - what's the fuel consumption like?
2. Chinaman point of view - how much can I sell the car later?
3. Indian point of view - how many people can fit in?

Which one is yours?

I like the Z3 better.
lighter, e36 platform (means easy engine swap to M52B28),clasic-ier, cheaper, and etc.
Although it use less sophicated trailing arm rear suspension instead of multilink in Z4.
