To choose between 530

Hi all, perhaps you can give your opinion which would be best. For a driver who uses for business purpose who travels 75% in the city (klang valley) and 25% outstation, which would be good enough. Only M54s. a) 520i or 530i ? If 530 .... b) 530i or 530d ? Please don't remark how bad is our diesel and such, bcoz they are not.

you drive kl most of the time maybe 525i will be more ideal. if you go outstation very often and you like to full throttle then 530i is better. i have 530i but the consumption is really bad

a) 530i > 520i in term of performance but since you do 75% city, I would suggest getting the 520i. Use less fuel and since you only play at lower speed, you would not notice the 800cc difference that much.

b) 530i > 530d. Dude, seriously. The diesel in Malaysia is Euro2M and the world standard now is Euro4. Its like saying Ron91 is ok for our cars. The torque is awesome for the D but you don't need it if you mostly do city driving. Maintenance for the D would be higher than the I but not by much.

P/S - You said earlier in your post, you wanted M54 only but you asked about Diesels which used M57s.

Bcoz the price for 520 and 530 is almost the same. It's either sedate or excitement :top:

Haha ... no worries. My colleague rides a 545i (just own 3 months) and some clients own supercars. My ride is a 328i and although I love it too bits but it's time.

Actually this post is mostly about opinions between the 530i and 530d, which would you fancy. A topic to discuss taking into consideration maintenance, fuel cost, road tax, etc. Can also be the same for 520i or 520d.

ps - i have the wife's 318ci E46 that I use when she's not using it.

Hi, I am selling my 530d for an upgrade to another model with diesel engine too. Therefore you can rest assured that there is nothing wrong with BMW diesel engines in Malaysia.
