Want to ask buddy here..wat brand of tire are more suitable for e39 225/55/16? Any differential for the tire made from Germany, Japan and Thailand??   Usually where do u buy the tire? Can recommend some cheaper shop in town area? I ask from S'pore, thier say Michelin tire from Japan cost S$255 per piece.

Bro,

The Michelin prices in SG are cheaper compared to the ones in JB so it's basically your call. Otherwise, look at some of the cheaper options from Toyo, Falken, Dunlop, Hankook, Goodyear and the rest locally. Our usual tire shop quotes very good prices for most of us JB members - mostly for Toyo range. And yes, the vast disparity in terms of prices of Jap, Euro, Korean and local tires are primarily determined by brand, quality and end application etc.

'7833, I just changed all 4 on my e39 with Toyos (Japan made). did it in Kulai... i was surprised myself coz the shop exterior wouldn't suggest they are up to it, especially in Kulai Besar! but 1 mth++ on and I'm satisfied...:) BTW I got them for RM445 each...so that shud give u some idea on local prices. Oh, i noticed that there are quite a number of Toyo shops around now, even along the senai row of shops and i'm sure there's more in JB itself. do go around to survey & good luck

So which shop usually u go?

Our usual tire shop is Era Maju at Taman Desa Jaya in Johor Bahru. A short drive away from the Jusco at Tebrau City ...

Cheers,
VaN.

Hi opp
Its the TOYO PROXES range, 225/55/R16.

Must say in addition to being good looking the tread is also deep, which I hope translates into longer service life...

And yeah, I tot I had a good deal too until I realised another abang with Kancil replacing all four of his tyres for RM95 each. Then I realised what he's paying for all four is less than even one of mine... :(...boo hoo hoo! But hey, that's the price of driving a UDM, icoz n return, the pleasure one derives (esp at 160kph++)... PRICELESS!!! ('cept of course if u r caught by the cops!).

Enjoy ur driving & Be safe mates!

hi mates,
sorry 2crash in.my take on choice of tire, MICHELIN ps2.
THATS THAT.coz once u've gotit, felt it,u'll probably never want to switch.

tried mostly all top brands, some are really good, don't get me wrong but it's that comfort plus grip these tires has.,now this is purely my perference.

good luck on ur pick bmw7833

Van, wat brand and how much u change it??

Hey bro,

I'm on Toyo Proxes T1R 235/40/18s all round - each costing RM 550.00 from my usual shop. Next change wud be either the Dunlop Direzza or German made Goodyear F1 GSD3 which I can get from SIN for about the same price.

Regards,
VaN.

Upgrade your tires size!

I just tried out with my car technician's advise, upgrade the original size of 225/55/16 to 225/60/16 and it's surprisingly comfortable!
Currently using Michelin Japan for the 4 tires, today just got the chance to drive fast. Rainy day shouldn't have speed trap...:p Go for 200kmph still very steady... Hehehe... But really need to be careful or else 8 airbags also can't help..

topgen, how much u change for ur 4 tires? Go for 200kmph? ur steering not shaking?

bro change toyo Proxes T1R or Toyo Vinode tyre preasure 34 front and 35 rear if can change to 18 inch rims with 235/40/18 tyres, 240km/h oso your steering won't shake. switch off the ASC switch to manual can driff oso. Awesome.

Not shaking at all brother...

Just tried out the top speed 237km/h and not shaking at all. Using Michelin 225/60/16 Made in US for rear and Japan for front. Very comfortable for daily use also...
Brother, i advise not to use low profile if you are not going to drift... Hehehe. Just my point of view. Because cheaper and reliable. Even kena paku also not that pain brother...:)

Is that suitable for me to switch 225/55/16 to 225/60/16? Any effect?

bmw7833,

I just changed my 4 x tyres 10 days back to Conti Premium C2. Am using 255/55/16 too. I was considering the Michelin PS2 too but thot of getting on the PCP2 first. Satisfied...no noise and grips are good on wet and dry.
If you plan to use bigger rims - 17" or 18" then you need to use the Conti Sport COntact 2 (CSC2).
The CPC2 price I got for RM620/pc in Sunway KL.
Hope that helps bro.
