I have tried the Hankook RS2, Pilot Sport and Pilot Preceda as well.

Hankook RS2 is great on dry tarmac but on the wet a little compromised, nevertheless great value for $$$.

As for the Michelins, no problem whatsoever with swelling and etc. In fact the precedas on the my e36 has less than 50% thread left and its still quiet and performed admirably at Sepang.

I am surprised with the high rating for the Dunlop Sportmaxx which I am having on the e34. Great in the wet but cornering stability is a little suspect as the tire wall is pretty soft and the car rolls quite a bit.

Here's a pic of the Yoko Advan Neova as oem tire...

I knew they were good, if a tad noisy, but I never knew they were THAT good until Track Day... even rain did not put it off.

I was using the GS-D3s last year on my E46 SMG. It does work well esp. in Malaysia - grippy in the wet, low noise and good ride quality too. Im on Michelin Pilot Sport now and kinda regrets it...they are noisier and definitely doesnt give good ride quality as the GS-D3s.

:eek:k:
I've never tried GS-D3 but have both Pilot Sport and PS2. I also found the Pilot Sport significantly harder and noisier than the PS2. Based on reviews and feedback the GS-D3 and PS2 are both good choices. Were your GS-D3 German made or Thai ones btw?

Not to mention they are waaay more expensive than the GS-D3s

I have German on the rear and Thai on the front ( No stock of the front at the time )
So far, there is no discernable difference in wear from front and rear.

GUys,

Do consider the Falken's 452...u'll love how well it takes corners at high speed n how it handles in wet conditions :D

Trust me... :D

Burger time!

:yahoo:

aiyo.... all the way there.

remember the Advan Nevou 007s..... they were the hpye when they were 1st released right.... good meh? slightly above average grip but the road noise...... aiduh!

And the Michelins Pilots, always swell!

and the ratings they got for them from overseas, excellent this, excellent that.

ah, one more, the Peralli Dragons....

On track, fred flintstones tyres also good la. Sepang using ShellGrip.
Am on Yoko Advan Neova AD07.

Yes, they became extremely noisy.

Until I took them to Sepang.

Now they are humming beautifully.

These babies need to be trashed on track!

As for your flinstone statement, i don't understand why you say that. Er, have you taken your car to Sepang like Ace99 did?

Agree w you on Dragons though.

Any comments on the advans not so good grip in wet conditions..i heard it doesnt perform well in wet conditions...dry excellent..

:dunno:

best wet grip i had use before is s03 or gsd3(germany all 4 pc) ad07 is ok. but csc2 gimme a scare, when i spun.

Ace99,

I agree with what you said abou SO3. They are sweet. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the CSC. :yahoo:

I have tried wet grip between SO3 & Michelin PS2 on Sepang track...during PS2 lauching in 2004. PS2 is much better.... On dry, roughly the same performance... :D

I m now having PS2 17".. will soon be using PS2 19".... :yahoo:

bibendum, i think you are overdoing the m44 1.9 engine, 17" is quite a lot of traction to pull for the 1.9. Infact most good tyres will be sufficient for that power.

ace99.. to be frank, I m worried about that too..

I m still waiting for my PS2 from KL.. arriving next week. Till then, I still can consider whether to put it on or not... B)

Chubby,

Interesting point you brought up regarding performance on wet roads.

Recalling from my subjective memory, in the rain, the Neova I'm using now gives me more confidence compared to the CSC2.

Come to think of it, I've spun on wet roads in the CSC2 similar to Ace99, but so far, touch wood, have not spun on the Neova. This may be due to me being more careful now compared to before, but the confidence factor is certainly higher w Neova.

If I recall correctly, the CSC2 was more prone to aquaplanning compared to my current Neova.

On the dry, the CSC2 was more communicative on the limit, whereas the Neova simply has a higher limit.

wah lao....u all terror drivers....drive till spin on road.

I must be a slow driver - my car never even do that....SIGH!

Lee, I need a ride from you-lar! ( round the danger curve at KErinchi Link exit....) Btw, was any of kart tyres communicative to you?
