I have tried the Hankook RS2, Pilot Sport and Pilot Preceda as well.
Hankook RS2 is great on dry tarmac but on the wet a little compromised, nevertheless great value for $$$.
As for the Michelins, no problem whatsoever with swelling and etc. In fact the precedas on the my e36 has less than 50% thread left and its still quiet and performed admirably at Sepang.
I am surprised with the high rating for the Dunlop Sportmaxx which I am having on the e34. Great in the wet but cornering stability is a little suspect as the tire wall is pretty soft and the car rolls quite a bit.
