my e46 2.0 year 2004 got a small problems which i can identify it as an electronical problem. so for those who are willing to help me out there, please please and please. here is the problems:1. ive got a leaking engine oil which came out from the right side of the engine(near the right side absorber mounting)...2. my fuel indicator going crazy already... i spend on rm50 and the meter burst out till full and never come down again... (sigh),,:( 3. when i switch to shift D after R, my car dosent responed to the D shift. ill have to ram the gas quiet a lot of time till my car jumping around a few steps forward before i can drive it normally... 4. where can i service my car and what type of oil, and sort of things to be done in cheapest price(im a student)?? will be very happy if you guys out there can help me with this problems so that i dont have to go out to the workshop and 'kena cekik'...:) thanxxx...

Travis,

IMO, not all workshops are out to CEKIK you mate! It looks like you've got a few issues with the car - my suggestion would be to atleast take it for a full check-up and diagnostic before deciding on the remedies. Mind you, your car is not a very old model - it has a fair amount of sensors & other electronics so DIY fix is not an option unless you're competent. Problems are always cheaper when you fix them early instead of sitting on them for too long. ;)

Cheers,
VaN.

Guess it a valve gasket need to replace

2. my fuel indicator going crazy already... i spend on rm50 and the meter burst out till full and never come down again... (sigh),,:(

Your fuel level sensor stuck

3. when i switch to shift D after R, my car dosent responed to the D shift. ill have to ram the gas quiet a lot of time till my car jumping around a few steps forward before i can drive it normally...

Expensive if it get worse, gearbox change but you can try to replace the transmission oil at first.

4. where can i service my car and what type of oil, and sort of things to be done in cheapest price(im a student)??

You're student , car is not cheap regardless brand. It's a toy. Even DIY expensive .....

Ask your parents to pay since they bought the car.:D

Those aren't "small" problems, especially the gearbox one. You can see from the threads here that gearbox problems are common in BMW. Best thing to do is to take it to Auto Bavaria and get the problems diagnosed, then go to outside mechanic. Again many suggestions where from other threads.

I once made the mistake of washing my Alfa engine and it started all kind of electronics problems. Cost me more than 10k and many months to fix!

Sorry friend, unlikely to be cheap. BMW is an expensive car, otherwise everybody would be driving one.

Hi Travis_coldplay,

I would suggest you to go for GT1 diagnosis... Get the mech to identify and explain you the problem(s).. The one and only workshop that I know and usually go is Mspeed usj.. Don't get me wrong, I'm neither a marketing exec nor mech of the workshop.... I did my E46 with them.. still got some more things to change... Welcome to the Banyak Makan Wang club...

I would also suggest that you get a full manufacturer's diagnosis check even before you start to addressing the problem. As all your problems seem quite significant, you should get to the root of the problem before even addressing them...

And bro... unless you're one Senior Automotive Engineer with some Bavarian experience please don't even attempt to DIY anything on the mechanics of your car... you will surely live to regret it (speaking from experience here:eek: )

All the best mate...

Hi travis,

I'm not technically sound with regard to the meaning of GT1. But it something like our pc where it is good to reformat and reinstall the operating system and all softwares after sometimes to ensure optimum performance . This is because the manufacturer continuously do some fixes and upgrades on the system... something like that la.. about bodykit, i'm not so sure where to get the best one. Happy hunting...

travis.. the direction as given by previous forumer is as below:

MSpeed USJ is a BMW Specialist workshop :

Go towards USJ Summit, take left till u see Giant on ur left @ traffic light junction.

Take the right turn @ traffic light juction, go straight ( u'll see row of factories on ur left )

Next traffic light, straight still until u see Wisma Texchem ( white building on ur left )

Turn left into the light industrial area, take the next first right junction. The road will lead u to the end with a left curve.

U'll then see MSpeed USJ on ur left!

Go ask for Ah Meng there...England name, Kenny!

***GT1 - If Dr Meng thinks you're cute, you might even get it for free.. hehe..
***And if I were you and had your kinda problems, I won't be thinking about an SMG Bodykit first..

All da best :)
