I find natural rubber wipers much better although they dont last as long. I have used triple edge and dura edge on my cars in the US and after a while you will get wiper scratches on your windscreen based on my experience. Also tended to hop and skip on cold.
BMW original wipers are probably the best I have used so far.

What you are trying to say is that using silicone wiper the wiper streak is more often than natural rubber wiper.Originally posted by E46Fanatic@Jun 26 2005, 09:45 PM
Yes. Based on my experience, using silicon based wipers (triple edge and dura edge), you will see the familiar wiper streak across your front windscreen and is more obvious when you look at a clean glass in bright sunlight at a certain angle. The blades I got are not as soft as natural rubber blades and I suspect this caused the problem. Not sure if SWV brand ones have been improved compared to early version of silicon wipers. I basically got convinced by late night informercials on cable and am a su.cker for technology so I tried it. I would just stick to OEM BMW wiper blades as they are the best I have used so far.
That is my personal experience and personally I'd stick to BMW wiper blades instead of going out to explore and experiment again. Having said that I am not saying that ALL silicon wipers scratches the glass, as I dont have quatifiable proof besides my experience with triple edge and dura edge wipers.Originally posted by Mikeong@Jun 26 2005, 10:04 PM

I think the streaking is the wear of the silicone material to the glass. It does not and will not scratch unless its made of hard plastic!. I have used silicone "water wipers" to brush off water after a car wash. They do the same thing as wipers but for the rest of the car. It does give the streaking look if residual water was not fully taken off. This could be the case of silicon wipers when the friction wears off the material.
Those who used silicone wipers for long term, do you see this thing ?. Streaks on the glass but when you wipe off the windscreen glass, the streaks disappears ?. Pls comment.
I'm using PIAA silicon wipers on my car too.Originally posted by Casanova@Jun 22 2005, 10:12 AM
