Hi there,I am not sure if this topic has been discussed before, but if it has, can someone point this out to me or at least forward me the link? Cool:My E60 front tyre is currently fitted with the manufacture tyre (Pirelli P7), and the BMW garage that I sent my car for service advised me to replace as it already worn.I am thinking to replace with a different brand as the Pirelli one is a bit expensive. I found the compatible tyre on the Internet (that within my budget) such as AVON ZV5, BF GoodRich G-Grip, FALKEN FK452 and, etc .I am just wondering if you guys have been using those tyres before, and I am really appreciate if you could provide me a feedback on your experience using those tyres? If not, can someone recommend the good tyre for me? Is anyone knows is there any knock-on-effect if we are not using the manufacture fitted tyre? Btw my rim size is 16 inches.Thank You.

Michelin PS3-Very good ( previous)
Good Year F1 Asyimetric- 2nd good (Current)

How did you get this data from ? Was it from your previous experience or from other source ?
Thank you.

IMHO, all tyres are suitable as long as it's the right size for your rim. Look, there's no perfect tyres and all the top range tyres for different brands would also have it's pros/cons plus they are equally just as good (more or less). If I randomly put PS3, CSC5P, P7, Asymmetric, etc in your car without you knowing, ask you to test drive and tell me what is it, you might not even get a single one guessed correctly so this is how minimal it is for a normal driver like you and me.

This is all about marketing and generating revenue so all the tyre manufacturers will have their own selling point and advertisements talking about all sorts of stuffs. It doesn't mean cars with expensive tyres have never crashed before in history so my advice is, pick a reasonably priced tyre according to your budget :) If you have a better budget then get the top range tyres but if not, the mid range ones would work just as well. Drive safe especially on wet road conditions.

It's all depending on your usage & budget. If you have the budget, always go for Continental CSC3. I think it's one of the most expensive (if not the most) tire in the market. All rounder..
But IMHO, one of the best sub 1k tire u can buy at the moment is definitely Goodyear F1 Asymnetric.. Superb handling and excellent cornering. Do you know that Porsche recently decided to use the latest F1 Asymmetric 2 for their 911? It speaks volume considering the close relationship Porsche and Michelin had in the past. Not sure about asymmetric 2 price but the current one is good enough.
For me, I drive long distance a lot and even though handling, grip and comfort is important, budget is also another factor.. Btw, I'm on Dunlop Sport Maxx at the moment :top: no issue so far and I'm a happy driver.. Cost less than RM900 per piece

Normally for mid/high end tyres, dry grip is not an issue and our road conditions are very important. Imagine if we're on the most expensive tyres but there's sand, oil or other substance which is potentially dangerous. All these will still contribute to accidents if we are not careful. Besides, a lot of our federal roads are not even but wavy so it's like sailing during high speed.

Alright thanks guys. I have now decided to use Falken 452 based on the feedback on the other forums. It suits my budget, and hopefully it suits my driving style as well.

Mobile tyre fitter will come to my house tomorrow to sort this out.

I'm using falken, is good to use but handling not as good as continental and it's very noisy.....

Hi, Yes Indeed the tyre a bit noisy but I feel the handling is similar with the previous tyre : Pirelli P7.

Got it replaced fully fitted for both front tyres at £204 - RM 1020.

Im currently using csc3.. Quiet better than pilot sport but overall still I like Michelin pilot sport.

Ps3 pretty good but too bad can't sustain for long distance run and worn vy vy fast ... My last set of ps3 only lasted me 18k on rear tyre. After ps3 and I went for Dunlop sport maxx TT , quite good in dry but suffer in wet grid ... Eventually on Pirelli cinturato p7 now and I must say quite a balanced tyre overall ... Of cos for sure is a bit pricey too
