Anyone here who knows of any homes which aren't supported by the government or private organisation??? Your suggestion would be useful in the near future to decide on which home to contribute to. We would like the fund to go to homes which are in need of it, not those which are already being supported by either the government or private org.

What do you mean by private organisation??

There is one old folks home in Cheras, supported partly by a church and well wishers. Went there during Chinese New Year. If interested I will PM the committee on the details.

Rgds

Private organisations can be church organisations or NGO charity foundations.
There are homes which need more fund than the others. These are the ones we try to reach out to.

I have heard story from a personal friend dealing with an arrogant church charity group. That may be just one of the few black sheeps in the charity circle. Point is to help those who really need it.

Fabian, it's good we start this early as there are many needy around. I'd support. Thanks for the effort.

I think most homes need funds. Even some govt supported ones need $$$ from private donors to meet ends meet. I saw one of the accounts, the $$$ from the govt is such a paltry sum that it wouldnt be able to sustain the orphanage home for more than a couple of months.

Somehow I dont find this surprising that such an Important and Needy thread has somewhat died such a sudden death !

I guess in reality the "gossip" threads seem more appealing and interesting for most to post their humour and wit!

Yes, people talk, we all talk.........well, talk is cheap.....

Wanna put your money where your mouth is?:

Here's one "home" that needs much help and depends on public support.

"Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak - Kanak Cacat, Klang, Selangor"
No: 4, Lorong Bunga Raya, Kampong Raja Uda
42000, Port Klang
Selangor
Tel: 03 31654312

They have a total of 75 children out of which 20-30% were abandoned. All are either mentally or physically challenged.

They dont get/have enough of what we all most of the time extravagantly and wastefully indulge in.

They need FOOD - Rice, Mee, Meehoon, Cooking Oil, Milo, Adult Pampers, Detol, Detergent etc...

Want to do a charity drive? Lets stock up our beautiful cars with these foodstuff and lets take a drive......

Committee.....

yeah....u been there okow?

good info man

Would the committee want to combine some efforts with the Mini club for a fund raising event?
Base on previous donations here, we find it hard to raise even Rm2000 from members. So if you want to really help these kids you need a donation drive.

Okow
Thanks for the info, i will put this forward in the Mini club also since we are trying to do more charity. In fact we will start with a Movie evening for a homeless children home in April. We will bring 21 kids out instead of just donating.

However this home that you mentioned indeed need any help we can give. I will discuss with them for next Charity drive.

Alvin, Committee,

If i may suggest...as you already know how difficult and time consuming it is to put together "events" of a large scale. Shall "the committee" just choose a weekend soon and get a few cars there. Doesnt take much....say, someone gets a few bags of rice while another buys several crates of milk and so on. Those who cant make it may want to chip in in some way too, can do so.
And while all this is going on, we can then plan a "grandeur' event set for another date and collect more for these kids.

gd stuff okow...

yeah lets do sumting....fill me in anything...more than happy to help out

Alvin, the movie evening is a great idea. i wud love to join....but no mini la....

A collaboration between the 2 clubs will somehow help to raise more funds for the needy kids.
Please count me in....:)

Collaboration at club level will definitely raise more funds (hopefully) but it doesnt have to start there and with that. For those who live around that area or would/might pass by...no harm in just dropping off a bag of rice or something every once in a while.

No donation is too small for these needy children.

Committee, can you pick a weekend SOON and lets start the ball rolling. After our first visit, we should have a better idea of what their critical needs are!

Great idea Okow. Let find a weekend soon. If not we just do among our group lor. U arrange lar. I will be around for the next 3 weeks.
