Stranger is right about this. If I were the owner I will leave the sound system alone. Unless they can find someone who is familiar with the Bus diagram of the car and confident enough to do the job without sacrificing or affecting other function of the car. It is true also that the CID will disappear too if the mod incorrectly performed.Originally posted by Stranger@Mar 20 2006, 10:16 AM
The problem with E60 is that it's based on the MOST, a fibre optic based system. Everything connected to this MOST is special...
The best you can do is probably just what Randy suggested. Even then I suggest you grill the installer on their knowledge about this car.
I don't mean to scare anyone here, but I have seen cases of sound system upgrade here and there by Ah Beng or Ah Lian shops who claim them self to be the best and expert in BMW sound system, end up they refer you to the authorised dealer to clean up their mess and blame it to the product...good eh.. Then the authorised dealer will charge the owner a bomb to restore to the original sound system.. plus the warranty for the affected part is voided.
It really need someone who know their stuff to do it right the first time. Otherwise ... disaster..
