The problem with BMW Connected Drive app is you have to keep the app running on your phone in order for it to work. So you cannot do other stuffs with your phone once you started these BMW app. I find this not so convenient.

Yes. I prob use it less than 3 times as you need open the apps and can only work w the Lightning cable. End up just connect via Bluetooth. Unless they can integrate via Bluetooth else it's quite a hassle every time I have to open the arm rest and fiddle with the wires.

Cool I tot it was for the mini then only BMW looks like I don't have to wait.
Yup i find it kinda cool...full fledge access of Spotify.. very convenient...since i am on Premium...now i can select whatever mood tunes driving.
Pleasant indeed for me :)

I have yet to try out the spotify via BMW apps. In Jakarta this entire week. Sounds like some of you really enjoy the new smooth integration it offers.

Will try out when back to Penang tmrw night.

As for the cable I usually have it tugged in the arm rest as don't like the cable dangling outside. Moreover unlike e90 with a holder/groove along the handbrake area where we can place the phone nicely. F30 the cable has to run all the way to the cup holder.

My cable is long therefore is hide/tug nicely between the console n seat. Place my hp at the cup holder cover.
Btw u dun launch BMWConnected Drive app...u launch Spotify app :)

Yes mate I stream spotify via Bluetooth all these while. It's neat as it auto connect and continue where I left off.

I use Waze a lot to get around. With connected drive active, I cannot use Waze. And while at traffic lights or traffic jam, I normally check my Facebook, tapatalk, email, etc. You cannot access these apps with connected drive active.

I was on Premium for sometime and I always download playlist to my iPhone for best result. I only use Extreme mode for best sound quality. But I have terminated my account recently because I find it boring already after a few months. Same old songs over and over again, only in different playlist. So boring. I am now looking for something new and exciting.

I prefer USB cable connection. Better sound quality and can charge phone at the same time. I can live with iPhone cable dangling around, no problem it's just a small cable. Apple lightning cable not so bad la.

Me in traffic jam...check FB or Twitter on idrive..all by idrive. Make calls also idrive.
I make a habit not to touch my hp regardless while driving or at traffic.
Well one can't have it all :p

Hahaha good for you. That's how BMW connected drive is meant to be used in the first place. Total hands free with snap in adaptor. If only BMW programmers can catch up with smartphone apps development then only this can be a successful.

iDrive for BMW & Mini isn't perfect. IMHO it's still the best compared to Audi's MMI and Mercedes's COMAND.
For now at least and it's running close :)

Agree with you that BMW iDrive is still superior to Mercedes Command. Had tested out Mercedes Command on my dad's car and never like it at all.

In all honesty, I am waiting for Apple CarPlay to be available only haha :D

I'm not sure I'm asking the right question or not (since I'm totally noob in BMW technology) but let me just give a shot...

I having a problem connecting the iDrive with BMW Connected apps in iPhone, even using Original Lightning cable, the apps failed to detect the car and keep trying (I reinstall the apps a few times, but same problem still occurred)

But so far, the phone and iDrive work perfectly with Bluetooth connection, it just not with the cable (more function can be use if using cable right?)
