Sometimes I could not start up my car

Hi BrosAny of you have problems starting up your car? I do not mean regularly. Usually i start my car with 1 try but recently, in some occassion I cant even start my car at all.Mine will happen once in every 20-30 times, meaning everytime i start my car, there is a 5% chance that i cant start my car. This problem has occurred a few times already for the past 6 months or so. It happens not in the morning but when I drive occasionally like to destination A (stop 1-2 hours) and then to destination B (stopover 1-2 hours) and then I cant start already. Normally, I insert the key to the ignition 0 and I crank it to position 1 & 2 for 2-3 secs before i crank it to position 3 to start the engine. When i want to turn from position 2 to 3, there is no reaction from the engine but just a click sound coming from the engine compartment.Anyone facing this problem? :stupid:I am driving a 2002 e46, N42B20.Thanks in advance.

Sound like starter having problem or battery having problem. If no sound at all then could be EWS or key.

Check the crankshaft position sensor if the battery is still strong

TQ for the opinions....as for the fear to kena stranded somewhere and the car could not start, i went to change my battery (5 years already) and also my starter (2nd hand). Let's see if this is ok but from the new starter, I could feel the car could start with ease.
