Somethings weird with my aircond

This morning, when i drive to the office...aircond wasnt cold...looks like only air came out..then after around 20km...it's cold back..anyone got ideas what is the problem?

if gas leaking..mean it will never cold after that..but this one....after 15 minutes like that...can hear the gas sound..then it was cold..huhuhu...

I am not sure but last time before my cooling coil gone, i faced the same problem like u.

I am having about the same problem.

1. If leave a car for sometimes or under hot condition, upon start cold air refuse to kick in. I notice that if I rev the accelerator up to 3000 rpm for few seconds then only the cold air kicks in. Recently even while driving and idle/slow, it back to no cool air so ...rev the engine to 3000 rpm than back to normal.

2. What could be the problem? Gas leaks? Pressure sensor? Clutch fan? Aircond filter clog?

3. I seek advise from one popular BMW third party aircond specialist, he said my compressor is not in good condition. I don't really buy it as the aircond still cold but intermittent. Especially when i rev to 3000 rpm. Compressor clutch?

Before I commit to change the compressor etc at around 2k, perhaps someone can advise me something else.

2) sometimes in mid drive, cool air will go off, left with blower air. when this happens, will have to off and on the aircon to get cold air.


my fix is to change the compressor. was told that compressor is losing pressure.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like I still have to fork out about 2k for a fix. I used to change the compressor clutch for my old Citroen which having aircond problem but I guess since the price of Denso compressor for E39 has came down significantly, maybe it is worthwhile to get a new one.

to solve my problem...my mechanic gave to me another aircond controller panel...to be tested...since i took it at 4 pm today..my aircond was ok...i'll wait for another 1,2 days and look for the problem..and one more thing..my mechanic notice that my outside temperature was -40...so he suspect that either aircond controller or outside temperature sensor that was located below the engine..BTW..anyone knows how much does that item cost?

yeah..very small item...what about the controller? lastnight i plug in my old controller...wahhhh...my aircond fan was unstable..sometimes slow...sometimes tooooo fast..when plug back my fren controller...it was normal...btw..that contoller came together with outside temp sensor but im not use it yet..n my aircond was ok till now..looks like it was the controller that give me trouble

When you say "aircond controller", does it mean the whole piece under our HU? How much it cost? My outside temp reading is ok.

yeah...actually there is two part...i've open it last night..got one electronic board inside it..i saw at ebay..got someone sell the casing with front panel (with those lcd n button) only..that one for refurbished set already 150usd..the board inside must be higher...u know what...complete set at halfcut together with outside temperature sensor...rm800...walauwehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Perhaps i need to consult Naidu whether compressor or could be my controller. Is the picture taken from your Bimmer? It still show Fahrenheit reading. Can change that easily to Celsius.
