Bro YK9 sorry tumpang your thread as I also face aircond problem but with different symptom...

The aircond symptom of my E46 (M43) is that when I take a long drive after 2 or 3 hours of cruising the aircond will starting to blow slower than actual blower fan speed set earlier although the digital aircond blower indicator displays the blower speed at the half point to full (it only blows air as if it is set at 1 or 2 bar speed) and it also becomes less colder than when you just at the beginning of the journey (temp. set at 20 degrees Celsius). if you try to adjust the blower speed higher it will blows stronger but the blowing air will be accompanied with a mist of condense air before slowly disappears over time. The aircond acts the same way when I take a long drive whether it is a day or night time but only occurs during 2-3 hours non-stop long drive but for normal city drive the aircond acts normally without problem. Is this normal or is it a failing aircond symptoms that I need to be aware of?

Pls help me fellow bimmers and sifus. Your advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Its a shop full with equipment's for any car and they do continental. here is the contact number 0102520048 wan. His located in seksyen 15 shah alam.

Bro skyevo, I think you are in the same problem with mine, but my problem will occur within 20-30 minutes drive.I diy replaced the FSR also not help. Not yet have chance to get Naidu checkup. But I found a workaround solution. When the problem occur, press to the freeze button to deactivate the freeze function (the button with snow sign), after few minutes, the blower speed will be back to normal, then reactive back the freeze function. Hope this workaround solution work for you too ;-)

Next thing I would try is to replace the cabin filter as advised by sifu here, hope that resolve the problem.

skyevo,

I think that is normal, since there is only one fan for aircond and also to cool down the engine as well. Did you drive 150km/h and above constantly for more than 2 hours?

After you have cool down your car, say, 30 minutes the aircond should be OK like normal.

rwd thanks for the simple solution suggested will definitely try it...

Is cabin filter is the same thing as microfilter?

bro dexter,

what a relief hearing from you that it is normal symptom..i also think that it is because of the engine becomes hotter after long drive and the fan could not support enough for normal aircond operation...maybe its not a problem for a colder european weather but for our country the cooling system is just not sufficient enough..

FYI i usually cruise at 140/150km/h on the highway...so the symptom is expected right..TQ

aircon problem resolved. Part changed A/C evaporator sensor. This sensor faulty caused the A/C compressor keep engage.
The sensor is located deep behind the center console. Need take out the glove box and gain access from there..

The problem resolved by Power Booster & Air-Con services, Kuchai Lama. This workshop is specialist in BMW, it is actually recommended by the owner of USJ1, WQW Mechanic Services.
The troubleshoot was straight to the point by scanning with a scanner. Total damage:
RM150 - A/C evaporator sensor
RM180 - Labor + Gas renew.

Happy with the service and result :)
