Hi All,My E46 is having small amount of smoke from exhaust, sometime difficult to notice.Read from other forum many said this is completely normal for N42 engine, but mechanic said 99% due to faulty oil separator, cost at RM700.So is it normal to have small amount of smoke from exhaust?Or go for the oil separator replacement?Or any other possibility? Thanks

does it come on continously or only slight smoke after idling? if large fumes its the oil separator which is around rm3xx and not 7xx. Slight fumes after long idle is due to the valve seals which is a top overhaul job, budget 2-3k for it and it should be alright.

In the meantime monitor your oil level bro. N42 has this valve seal design issue that causes this.
