etquah, at 2000km, you're at the end of the run-in period, so you can step on the accelerator and get kick-downs from now on. In D (auto) mode, just step harder on the accelerator and you'll get a kick-down. If you want a double kick-down, just step all the way to the end and go past it to the 2nd stop - your car will take off like a rocket. In S (sport) mode, you'll find that the gearshifts are more lively anyway and will probably downshift on the way down the slope. You don't have to use M (manual) mode for normal driving - I never use it.

Experiment to find the best way for you to enjoy your UDM.

Maybe wrong run-in method.. :p

"D" is for grocery..
"D" is for school..
"D" is for wet market..
"D" is for hair down cruising..
"D" is for parent or in-law in the car..
"D" by right u should not even need to put seat belt, thus the belt alert is so unnecessary..

Your bimmer won't rock in "D" and don't expect to gain full performance advantage of your bimmer in "D".

"DS" is still my favorite and some find driving in "DS" is more economical than using "D", that's because they are aggressive driver, so "D" is not so efficient, thus high FC.

"MS" is useless to drive because auto upshift kick in too early, real potong steam, I only use it to drop gear for engine braking.

Apart from Sprint Booster , is there any after market product that boost up the torque and performance?

Plenty Bro! Bolt on super charger, BMW Performance Intake System, Stroker kit, etc.

Sprint Booster does not improve torque and performance, it only trick the ECU by sending full throttle signal when u only press half on the gas pedal, and telling the throttle to go half when u only press a quarter way down in the gas pedal.. And u pay RM1k for that.. :stupid:

I have driven the e90 to genting MANY MANY times n i still lose to those taxi ...nissan ..lost in terms of speed
but not to worry. pick up and all sorts r good. during the last cameron treasure hunt, the drive was ok too with manual mode ..but after the trip...*sigh*

etquah..since ur car oni 2k..no worries la. furthermore u r on auto.

spaceman: for real good safety in genting, go to awana. parking there is safe n the space is bigger. up in genting...sometimes u cant find a parking for even 1 hour!!! if u plan to go, let me know. will provide some complimentary tickets for u.

What kind of complimentary ticket ? :p
Plan to go. Haven't been to Genting since 1998 :D

Sprint booster will only improve your pick up of your car but no increase in bhp. There are another two products in the market which is HAC n Tune kit. Both of these you can adjust the responsiveness of the accelarator.

everyone looses to them as they are darm good ..heard their car is being supp'ed up with some diferrent gear ratio's mend for up hill drives ...heard they are custom made .... not sure how true but that what some1 told me ...

No everyone la.. I love to bully them on the way up. But yeah they carry a lot more speed around the bends than most drivers do. I find the drive up more "chee kik" than the drive down for some reason. Genting climbs are awesome when using the M mode tranny. Hate them speed bumps tho!

"MS" as in manual mode I assume? My personal experience tells me that when in manual mode, if you do not upshift manually, it'll only happen at the redline, i.e. at the cut-off point to protect the engine, same as DS ain't it?

I m on Tune Kit - yes - power comes early and at a tap.

Else - u can use the 'kick-down' method.

Top speed = same same
FC = hmmmm .. seems cheaper (using V-power) maybe coz u reach the speed u want faster - dunno
Town driving - need to get use to it - coz it can be jerky .

Verdict - ok laa .. some people like it , some people dun. I will stay with it.

Need more power - put SC ..

Nope.. upshift override in M-mode happens way before redline.. potong steam! DS can push rpm higher by at least another 500rpm and you don't have to keep looking at the rev gauge to determine where to upshift.

You don't have to look.
What it hit rev-cut.. is time to shift !!

Then what's the difference between "M" and "DS" mode if you gonna use the same auto upshift, except "M" upshift a lot earlier?

I thought M is Manual mode?
It shift for you even you want it to stay 2nd gear ?
Damn... I guess why I still hate AutoBox :D

Yes.. in "M" mode, when car start to pull after crossing 4k rpm, you will see the rpm shoot up dammmnn.. fast into the 6s and before the car has a chance to drag a little with 2nd gear.. ECU overrides and upshift to 3rd speed to preserve the transmission from any stress it will suffer, even in "M" mode. To my surprise, even "DS" a.k.a. sport mode can drag rpm higher into the reds compare to the manual "M" mode.. :stupid:

wakakaka.... you guys going to suffer in 11th.
upshift going to make you S-L-O-W-A

I guess the M mode is only good for downshifting when going into a corner or steep downhill. But the problem is that once you use it, you're then stuck in M mode and to go back to DS, you have to go to D first and then shift back to DS. Lagi potong stim! Or am I wrong and there's a way to toggle between M and DS?

At the end of the day, if you want a manual, get a manual...right turbology?

Is not about speed.
Is about fun & control.
SMG is faster. CVT is smoother.
But manual gear with cluth give you control of your gear. The control of knowing the gear you are in without looking at the cluster or gear shift.

Agreed but hopefully you guys dont confuse SMG with steptronic gearbox with paddle shifter cos that is what you guys have actually hehehehe :D
