Should I install the reverse camera from BMW Malaysia?

HiI just wonder, I'm thinking of installing the reverse camera from BMW that will cost me RM 4,500. I read somewhere that the reverse camera is not compatible with the current system.Have they fixed the glitches?Please advice.

Hi auzani,

I presume you are riding on the latest F10. I retrofitted the reverse camera at auto bavaria KL on my F10. I got it installed before collecting the new car. Works like a gem !
So far no problems with the camera

Got a BMW newsletter dated 19/8/12, promo price for BMW 5 Series Rear View Camera & installation kit RM 3,800. Promo valid until 31 Dec 2012. Dunno about other series...

The cost of the reverse camera system was RM 3800. The labour charges was almost RM 500.
Iinstallation time almost one full working day..

3800 + 500 will surely hurt my wallet but for the car, i think imma close one eye.

Anyone did this lately and paid rm500 for labour? Got my car last week and Quill wanted 5.1k for reverse camera even after making me wait 4 months for the car. I just said no. I m so used to having it on my former Korean makes n my wife forte. Sadly miss comfort access too.

When you guys fix the reverse cam, do you get front and back like the normal BMW full specs overseas or only back camera only?

I realised the reverse sensors on my F10 are not reliable. I will load some pictures here where i have hit the curb while the sensor hasnt reached the stop sign and tone. Due to that, i feel hopeless with the F10 sensors. I cant imagine seeing my new car hitting curbs again!

The front and rear is a separate system. I think BMW MY is only offering the rear view camera. Yup the PDC sensors are a little bit slow in detecting obstacles. I hit a curb myself as the sensor can't detect low level curbs (lower than PDC).
Well, at least F10 has the option to install. F30 has none whatsoever but In SG they already have it as a retrofit kit.

In Malaysia , JE (Loc: Sri Rampai) got original reverse camera to install....I installed in JE(Dealer Dynavin)....the soft door also coming....when I free, i upload my video...
And JE price is ok.......I installed my reverse camera just near RM2.5K....And i had order the soft door parts &power boot....Coming Soon....Rdy for install it...

Yes I did installed my Reverse Camera with Trajectory (But Mine is the F10 M5 Helicopter View Camera System) Nice Surround View System and also Got Front View Camera which i can activate via Voice Control), Soft-Close Door for all Four (4) Doors and also the Mobile TV, Rear Seat Entertainment, Since my 535i came with Power Booth so thats out of the picture. Overall, everything is fine and since its all Original BMW Parts, Warranty still Fine. Next on my List is "CA" Comfort Access :top:
