325 40k

well,as for me..yr 95 325 for 40k is cheap,if the owner is a perfectionist n maintain the car well,he would not sell at that price bcos he has spend alot n he wouldnt want to lose too much.I have some friends driving E36 325I with full ori bodykits, rims etc.n maintain the car really well....telling me no way they will sell their cars unless someone offered very good price bcos no need to repair,if u get one cheap but spend alot to repair its the same at the end of the day.

Fabian in retrospec u r probably right. Anyway I pretty much hv decided to let the loss lie with me. In fact the moment I put up this thread I realised it wasnt what I wanted to do but listening to u guys really helps me see sense through my frustration.

I do intend to keep the car for 5 yrs so I hope the next 5 yrs will be much better than the last month.

anxious, i got an idea. Why not post some pictures of your ride here and let us admire her. You'll feel better after awhile....

Daredevil, good idea...I hv to get a digital camera first. Anyways looks wise I think she is pretty decent with the new paint job and all.

Anyway driving back today I hv diagnosed one of the sounds as being related to my air con ....when I drive with the air con on when I come to a stop I hear a surge from the engine...w/o air con no sound...compressor or something.

Anyway as long as not the engine I'm cool about it.

It's the aircon gas squeezing through the expansion valve I think, mine sounds like a fart sometimes... poot!

Anxious, no need to get camera, I can take photos for you, my cameras are under utilised, from laziness...

Anxious, don't think you have a case against the seller... anyway, what does the fine prints of the law in this country say about this... Maybe there is a loophole for legal action, but nobody bothered till now...

Willing buyer, willing seller at the time of purchase. If the seller did not give you a warranty of any kind, then, you accepted the car as it is.

My cars are always maintained at the dealers I buy them from, right down to the lightbulb. So, I think buyers of my cars get a really good deal, as I can't sell the car way too much off the market value of the car, no matter how well I maintained the car and how much money and time I spent on it.

If so, did you feel you had the edge over the seller when buying the car for 40k? If so, at that point of time, did you think you were getting the car cheap? That would have meant the seller was at a losing point. If so, did you offer the seller a price that you actually thought the car was worth (which was higher at that point of time)? Of course not. You thought you had a bargain, you were not cheating the seller - willing buyer, willing seller.

Guys,

The law says buyer beware but I feel kind of cheated by the events of the last month.

I purchased a 1995 E36 325i with less than 80000km for RM40k.

At first I thought that it was a good buy but as events unfolded I realised that i had purchased a very poorly maintained car. Todate I have spent over RM18k of which RM13k has been on repairs and service...

~6000km a year of mileage is suspect of a well maintained car. maybe the odometer is rigged.

for a 1995 car, it should have high mileague and high mileague is not necessarily bad.

while it is a case of willing seller and willing buyer, in this case, i feel the seller knowingly deceived the buyer by not providing full disclosure. you're definitely shortchanged and you could try to approach the seller for some compensation as you said. certainly he did not disclose fully of the faults to you when he should have and that this can be a case you can build on. however, you need to build your evidence that he knowingly sold you something defective. find out from the workshops he went to to collect evidence. i believe he is already aware of the serious problems and this could be the reason he wanted to dispose it. this may make him share the cost or else you can take it to the court for failing to disclose to you.

anyway, it's a good learning experience. i know what it is like to go back to workshop squatting down to see them do the car and big waste of time.

Relax bro, 18k is not much for BMW especially yrs r 6 pots. Just look at positive side. U get the car at 40k which is very cheap. So yr repayment would be less and can spend more on maintenance and mods. If spend a lot for maintainence yr car will be good as new. They r many poeple who wants good car but cheap price. Good things r not cheap;)

just swallow it la... i've spent quite a few RMs on the car so to speak... i doubt the previous owner will telan.. so no choice.. jes swallow it
