A week ago, I sent my E90 320i for a comprehensive service and diagnostics check. Everything went fine till 3 days ago when I got an error that states my engine oil level was low. It states "+1 Litre". I was very hessitant as I knew my car was not leaking oil but panic took over and I drove to a petrol station to add 1 litre of engine oil none the less. After topping up and driving for about 5 mins, I got the same error again. I called my mechanic and asked if it was advisable to add more oil. He told me not to and over the phone, I was asked to check for white smoke from the exhaust as well as to see if I could see oil marks on the undercarriage of the engine area. Nothing. So we both suspected that the engine oil sensor may be faulty. Though I was worried, I continued driving for the next 3 day to and from work (could not take time off to send the car in) and my engine oil level was indicating MIN all the time.I finally managed to send my car in this morning, and confirmed that the sensor was faulty, had to replace it for RM500+ inclusive of labour (Hella Brand).Well, just thought I would share this info with everyone, that if you do get the dreaded "+1 Litre" message, just add 1 litre and not any more. Send the car in for a diagnostic check ASAP, its likely that the sensor is spoilt.Drive Safe!

Milage was 98k bro, yes its probably is a wear and tear problem in my case, however, when I was reading forums from North America and the UK, some owners posted the same problem when their cars were literally a few weeks old and only had about 2k on the clock.

Just be weary abt this and dont add more than 1 litre if you see the error message. Get it checked ASAP.

Happy Driving!:burnout:

I just tow this thread here because I thought it's more relevant here where most of the E90 fellas hang out. Most of them seldom go beyond this section..

.. more importantly, I have similar problem to share.

I did my oil change at 32k km with a 4L bottle of Castrol SLX 0W-30. So my oil level should be 0.25L short but it always show full after such oil change.

Now its 38k km and my gauge hovers between 0.25L~0.5L short. I top it up with at least 1L but gauge remain the same. Now I dunno know whether should I continue to top up or wait until "+1L" warning comes up. Doesn't feel right. Some of the top up oil belongs to etquah.. :p Should still have sufficient balance for him.. :p
