A week ago, I experienced serpentine belt and pulley issue with my E90 320d. After dinner, I started the car and immediately dashboard displayed a big battery in red and the iDrive says Charging Fault. The car can barely be driven. Power steering is gone, air-conditioning is gone, etc. Luckily I am within 1 km or so of Ingress service center. Managed to crawl there and left the car there.

Was quoted ~RM3K+ to get the serpentine belt and pulley replaced. This is a 2011 model with ~103,000km. My previous 320d, year 2009 had the same failure at about ~40,000km. Googled this in the internet and it seems like this is a known defect that BMW did not want to fix.

Anyone else experienced this with their rides or I am twice unlucky! Unfortunately, BSRI just expired at 100K km and I have to pay for it this time. Already spent ~5K right after BSRI expiry....(replaced front brake pads, sensors, etc for ~RM1200 recently too). Now I understand why this brand is known as Banyak Makan Wang....2nd time paying for maintenance/replacement after BSRI expiry. And next month, have to replace the doughnuts as they are getting bald.

RM3k+ is very expensive. Original belt cost no more than RM 250.00 and pulley about RM 260.00. Same thing happened to my e60 last year.

do it outside would be less. check out the workshop used by others in this forum.

Mine year 2010 clocked 130k mileage and all still in good condition. Hopefully it'll stay that way. I believe u can get it fix cheaper outside.

Possibly involving the crank pulley. Too much torque from the diesel engine tear the dampener in the pulley..

Hi have exactly the same issue last month on my 2009 320D. It turn out that the whole pulley came off. Maybe its about time because mine already reached 280,000km on the mileage.
Luckily I managed to get a used replacement part for RM380 including shipping from Poland. I know a brand new cost close to RM2000 locally.
Now my car is back on the road..

The belt and pulley was replaced. Then they noticed that the engine vibration is beyond normal and excessive. Traced the problem to the dampener...had this replaced as well. All in all, my car was in the service center for about 2.5 weeks. And since I repaired in at Ingress, there's a 2 year warranty.

My car is now back on the road for about a week and my 320d feels good again.

2.5 weeks for relatively simple diagnosis and parts replacement job is certainly unacceptable. This type of repair if done at independent workshops would take no more than 2.5 hours.
