Dear fellow comrades, Just a quick update on ROS submission to officiate BMWCLUB Malaysia. As it was an exercise that involves a worldwide trademark i.e. BMW, the committee has been tirelessly making trips back and forth ROS answering to their calls to verify our application. It has been a rather stressful exercise for us because the ROS works in a very 'strange' manner. They will call you up every week asking for missing information. Why can't they request for everything once and for all? They're not exactly near and we have to take turns to make trips there because of our own schedule. Sigh! I guess that's how the government works here. Since this is the first time we're attempting to get a club established, please excuse us if it's taking longer than usual. Thank goodness we had sufficient endorsement from BMW Malaysia and International BMW Club Council which assisted in making it a less painful exercise. Last I heard, the entire committee may be called up by Bkt Aman for an interview so that we will not abuse the club status and use it to organise any illegal gatherings. Hahahaha......keeping our fingers crossed we will NOT be hauled up. Ok, enough of ranting for now. In short, all documentation is finally completed and submitted. Now all we have to do is wait for them to revert with an approval and eventually a precious club registration no. We will keep everyone updated whenever we hear from ROS. So stay tuned. We will try our absolute best to facilitate the entire process. Elwin LimSecretaryBMWCLUB Malaysia

Jaran, would that not constitute an illegal rally????

BTW, after getting the ROS approval, what is the next good thing to come?

Aha..interesting question Jarance. At least we're an official club. Isn't that good enough a reason to obtain ROS approval? Hahahaha.....

Of course official sponsorships will flow in easier....

We could be looking at fuel sponsorships during official events, subsidized rates for workshops, accommodation, official merchandize, etc. And of course you guys will fall short of some money once official membership fees are charged.
:D

Thanks for the info guys. Guess the recent development on updates of club progress is gonna be well received my members :D . Keep up the good work guys. Appreciate your tireless efforts :eek:k:

We are enlisting some "outside" help to speed up the approval process. Maybe if someone knows somebody who can assist us can PM DD or the committee. Sometimes this final "process" may take awhile  :hmmph:

I think forummer 'kekejaman' may kno ppl who can help here. :)

as mentioned in my previous comments, Bkt Aman is only the first stage, to make sure that none of the pro-tem commitee or commitee members are involved in any criminal activities or have criminal records, the next stage is KDN scrutiny for National security purpose. Gettin ROS is difficult and tireless, even bona fide Professional bodies normally take more than than 2 to 3 years, provided you have big, i mean big cables, the Institution of Fire Engineers (Malaysia Division) took at least 1 year, with Tan Sri Soh Chai Hock rooting as their Chairman, the IEEE(Malaysia Division) took 2 years plus ( with Academician Datuk Lee Yee Cheong rooting as Chairman) and Institution of Structural Engineers(Malaysia Division) took 1 year with Tan Sri Chan Ah Chye as the cable for which I am Commitee Member. As you can see all these are prominent International Institution based in UK and even then the task of obtaining ROS was a real daunting task. I wont be surprise if Our registration can be turn down unless our case is solid. Pls forgive me if i sound pessimistic, but i've been there and done it. NGO's registration is not easy by Malaysian way since it involve mass gathering and subscription. If the club is internationally related make there is no mention of froreign subsidy or grant involved, this is very sensitive, remember Sept 11 case........or Bali bonbing, Marriot, Jakarta bombing....be forewarned......
