Yeah, s'thing like that but been very busy lately.
Sigh, The great Loga with his huge Afro hairstyle and the Alleycats! First laid eyes and ears on them at Tomorrow Disco, former KL Merlin hotel (now Concorde) in the 70's. Those were days when we had bands that produced very good music. Back then when the top bands besides Alleycats were, The Strollers, Discovery, Falcons, Yellow Jackets, Grim Peachers and Windjammers. Sigh.

Anyone know if the Strollers are still around, especially Billy?

As far back as my memory can take me, I remember that The Strollers disbanded sometime in the early 80's after Michael Magnus migrated to Perth.

Hassan (drummer) did session work, Hussein (Hassan's brother) played for a while as a duo at The Aviary Bar, former KL Hilton (now Crown Plaza Mutiara)
Nan moved to Germany.
Billy played for different bands.
They formed Strollers 3 and played the pub circuit like Peyton Place (SS2) and I last saw a reunited Strollers with Nan's return from Germany (except for Michael) at Yuyi Kitchen (Jaya Supermarket) during the 80's.
Nan Kumar has since passed away.

Saw 'Loga Dalam Kenangan' part 1 just now on TV1......I grew up with Alleycats music....an Indian guys singing Malay songs....how wonderful....may he rest in peace...

A great loss indeed. May his soul rest in peace. I can remeber when I was just a kid and my uncles used to play their songs, at that time on cassetes or vinyl....

Alleycats...what a great musical band. Lots of nostalgic songs since childhood to till today.

As I grew up listening to these guys songs. I will miss Loga, and did go to their perfomances many times in the club circuit, all the members were very friendly chaps..
A truly great Malaysian Band.. May his soul rest in peace......

Way back in 1999 I was staying in a hotel in Taipei where the Alleycats were having a gig. They seemed genuinely pleased to see a fellow Malaysian that night. We had a great time together, even met David's wife. As a live band they are very good, but as for their pop malay hits, well I dunno...maybe too much airplay.

Well, Malaysia back then, had good talented bands that did English numbers very well. Most clubs (disco) had a live act and most bands did 'Underground' music - metal nowadays. Those were the days of Sabbath, Led Zep, Queen, and Purple. Of course they also performed easy listening number from The Eagles, The Who, Free, Stones, Bread, Bee Gees and so on....Then came Motown and thats another story left for another day. Quite a few these Malaysian bands went overseas for gigs....Alleycats was one of them.

I remember (sometime in the 90s') walking in a Harbour View mall in Hong Kong and very softly I heard a Malay song. It was 'Kerana' and I though wow, they have Alleycats over the Pa system. As I walked the music got louder until it drew me to a club in the Mall and there they were in person - Alleycats Live! The place was packed both with locals and Malaysians and it was one nostalgic night for me. There were also lots of 'expat' women there too and I was proud to acknowledge that I was Malaysian too.

Stayed till they ended their last set and we hung out, went pub hoping with David and Loga with a load of 'groupies' in tow. Hmm....the rest is censored!

Kerana remains as my fav Alleycat song.

RIP...Loga

Wow okow, you sure keep in touch with the local music scene. I last met up with Billy when he performed onboard one of Star Cruises ships in the early 2000s (IICRC it was sometime in 2000 or 2001). The band he brought onboard was known as Billy and the Strollers. He had a lady singer then, Brenda, but was soon dropped from the following gigs onboard the ship. Then he did mention he was still playing at KL Hilton before that hotel was refurbished as CPM. Lost touch with him since then. Now trying to contact him for old time's sake but....:(
