hey yall, what do you need to use japanese rims on your E30?..im only asking becoz i saw this lovely japanese rim in port klang, old skool design

You are gonna need this thing called "spacer".
You ask the rims shop, sure got one.
Just pay up.

actually u need cone, for what i know e30 is very hard to get the right size of cone,u need to custom made it.

rockonla,

i think the centre core not much a problem. same goes to offset, you can use spacer. but the screw hole (PCD), that a big problem; but you can rebore/redrill.

For me not worth the money spend. Rims need precision machining, otherwise you wouldn't satisfied later with the performance i.e. vibrate, can't align and worse, not safe anymore.

Just my 2 cents

E30 has PCD 100 holes which is one of the 2 common PCDs, the other being 114.3. So PCD won't be the biggest issue especially for those jap rims with 8 holes to fit both 100 and 114.3. At least not like the Alfa which uses PCD 98, lagi teruk.

for a 15x7j rims, the ideal offset is between 20-25. As for the hub core, you have got to measure. in other words, if you have a 15x7 rims with offset being 35 or higher, you would need to made a spacer to cater for the difference. For example, if the rim's offset is 35, u need a 10mm spacer. if 40, u need a 15 mm spacer..
I'm giving a benchmark based on 15x7 rim.. So it may not apply exactly to say 16x7.5 or 15x6.5.... However, it should be about the same range...

I saw 2 posting on original BMW rims in this forum ... but they are 13"
There is another forummer selling his replica BBS ... I think it is 15"
Your money, your choice.
BTW, I drop by a tyre shop in Jalan Kapar today. The sifu there is against using spacer.
"Continental cars cannot use spacer ... no-no. Japanese one can." that what he said.
There is a ACS replica from Taiwan 17" new rims there for E30 ....only RM1250-00. The same rim I saw sold in another shop ... also nearby at RM1700-00.

u need to use spacers with hubcentric cones .. not the normal spacers they have without hubcentric cones... in other words, custom made to your spec... Another way is to bolt the spacer with the right hub core diameter to the rim itself... Or bolt to the hub..

thanks u guys for the help, but judging from what i heard and read...i think its just too much hassle for rim change...just have to go find an e30 rim then..thanks to all that helped..a big round of hhuuuraaahhh for u guys. peace!
