guys, i'd like to ask for your opinion on this topic. which rims that you prefer to use? i'm using BBS but now having a non-sensational feelings for not having BMW logo at my wheels. it feels like lain macam when looking at my wheel. even pain in the eyes when wiping the rim. but i admit the bbs design is beautiful. now i thought about reverting back to OEM rims. what say u?:smokin::wink:

Ezzo

if not mistaken, some bbs are used as oem rims. That being said the centre cap for your bbs can have the bmw logo as well if you want to see the bmw logo :)

so one option that we have is to change the cap to bmw. we can have bbs rim with bmw logo. fantastic :)

i saw m3 rim that makes my heart melt but i guess i need to think for awhile before making any decision

I had the same thought. But IMO a good after market rim is better than the ori BMW rim. My HRE C20 was much lighter than ori BMW rim. Sold it recently to my friend and he immediately can feel the different with the HRE rims. Easiest way to solve, just stick the BMW sticker or change the cap to BMW cap...

Anyone knows the average weight of a 3 series stock rim? It would be interesting to compare that with after market ones. I am wondering how heavy are the rims on my 325 M Sport.

For comparison:

For e92 M3:

BMW Style 220 - 19"
-FA: 19"x8.5 = 11 kg.
-RA: 19"x9.5 = 12 kg.

BMW Style 359 - 19" (Competetion Edition)
-FA: 19"x9 = 11.5 kg.
-RA: 19"x10 = 12 kg.

HRE C20 - 19" (3-piece)
-FA: 19"x8.5 = 8.5 kg.
-RA: 19"x10.5 = 9 kg.

Another thing to consider, forged rims are always lighter than cast rims, also stronger. The HRE is a forged rim.

Abg zul, do u note any differnt after using HRE compared to ori rim? Well, i mean your car is alredi a beast so a few kilos off or on should not be a sweat 2 u ride. And as usual, afrermarket or ori rim u vote bro?

Hi bro ezzo369,

I can feel some difference in the handling and pick-up of the car. I can easily spin the tyre with the HRE compared to stock. The handling also improved.

Now that car is back on Hamann Edition Race 20". I like the design of the Hamann. But definitely the pick-up are affected. As most people said the bigger the rim U'll lost the pickup. Bigger rim only for show. On the M3 may be not so affected because enough power to get the car move. Can still spin the tyre up to 2nd gear but with the HRE I can spin till 3rd gear. However IMO the car felt more stable with the 20" on cornering and high speed (rear tyre 295/25). That is why now I'm back with 20" on the Jerez Black 6-MT.

I would prefer good aftermarket rims, forged, 3-piece but they are expensive. Sorry to say that I'm not keen on Taiwan-made because I don't think it is proven to be strong. I don't want to have broken rims at >200 kh/h run. If not then I'll stick to ori BMW rims. Don't know how long my Frozen Grey DCT will last with the ori rims, might change it later but mind saying keep ori/stock. Enough changing with the Jerez Black 6-MT.

Bro ezzo369,

Thanks for the invitation. Sorry I won't be able to come because of my busy time schedule.

Warmest regards.
