I am experiencing the exact same problem as you. My Comfort Access is not sensitive enough and the occasional not able to detect the key inside the cabin.
I have brought my car to Ingress 3 times but they could not diagnose the problem. They said the exact same thing to me as Quill to you : no problem detected. I took delivery of my car last November.
As for the nearness of the remote control working, I believe it was designed for shorter range to prevent mugging. Not sure the exact range is, but 1m or less is my usual working remote range.
I must say that the comfort access would be handy if it's working properly. When I'm carrying my son i don't have to fumble to get my controller.
My next trip to Ingress, I will highlight this thread to them and hopefully they are able to assist me more. Would appreciate it though if you can keep me updated with this problem of yours and I will likewise do so as circumstances render us comrade in arms
jazzler, are you related to gilalazz? hehe
The remote control range really sucks. At most of the time I have to stand next to the car for it to work. Like only 30cm. Totally defeats the purpose of remote control.
And you hate it even more when your car is parked outside when it's raining. Normal people would unlock remotely, run to the car, open the door and get inside as quick as possible to not get wet. When our Myvi is unlocked, I can get inside and close the door in under 3 seconds. But for us UDM owners, it might take more than 3 seconds just to unlock the car.
This is what happened today. I had the key fob in my pocket, ran to the car, tried to unlock by pulling the handle instead of pressing the remote button. IT FAILED. So I quickly took out the key fob and pressed the top button. You know it still didn't unlock instantly. I had to press several times for the signal to register. And the situation is only worse if you have passengers waiting for you to unlock the other doors.
It's just small problem but I don't like how it affects our everyday life. Not only Comfort Access doesn't work perfectly, the remote control almost doesn't work normally each time I want to unlock/lock.
A functional remote control is something everyone should take for granted but I don't know how BMW failed to make it right in late 2000's.
Ohh, and today when I was already on the road .. the error message popped up "Remote control not present or faulty. Engine cannot be started." Not happy at all!
I'm gonna bring my car to Ingress instead of Quill this time. I hope they feel my frustration and subsequently eradicate the problem.
Let me know if you get yours fixed too.
