Does your comfort access always works?I kena error message like this from time to time. Brought it back to Quill to have it rectified. They found no faults and told me it's normal, I only need to insert the key. What kinda BS is that, I really hate seeing something like this on a brand new car.

This comfort access really not comfort, my uncle use to have a E90 320i 2007, When we get the car new also encouter this problem, till now also cannot sattle. also the comfort access not sensitive enough, when put hand into the handle, central locking wont unlock also.

i am more happy to my latio sports comfort access.

There must be something wrong there.. Could be either as stated by MSport, weak battery or your key fob that has a problem.

Also there could be something wrong too for the less sensitivity of the door handle unlocking... As far as I know, that thing is highly sensitive. I haven't heard of this problem in e90post or somewhere else...

EDIT: Owkey I found this tip. Place your key fob somewhere else but not in your pocket. That would result in better sensitivity to start your car. Also, cell phone may interfere the frequency and may cause delay or error. For the door handle lock, make sure your key fob is near to the door handle. I think that pretty much sums up...

Now to be honest, I think this Comfort Access is useless... Just my 2.

Well I'm not really happy with their explanations. They said it's normal.

So it's normal for comfort access to be unreliable? complete BS. Not happy with the attitude of service department.

Will write an email to BMW Malaysia regarding this.

They kelentong you laa.. No way that's normal. Just write an email to BMW Malaysia. If they're continuing to be like this, then no wonder one day Audi will be better in terms of customer service than BMW...

And I don't want that to happen...

both my remote controls are not working properly. there is no "remote" functionality at all. At most of the times I have to be 1m away from the car for the remotes to work. Will post youtube vids later. this is so driving me nuts.

Our myvi remote works 100 out of 100 times, 3 years without fail.

NCH, you cannot blame BMW all the way because of your key fob. You may be just lucky to have a good condition remote for your Myvi because some others may not.

Apparently, it's not just you that have a key fob problem because others experience the same too. There may also some others that don't experience the problem that you have. So take this as not your luck. If so everyone else in Malaysia have the same problem, only then you can claim that BMW made a faulty key fob for all cars... Get you key fob to Sapura Auto or Ingress Auto and let them check as I heard some of us are not satisfied with AB's work. Not satisfied? Then report it to BMW Malaysia.

But I believe it's more to the car problem than your key fob...

My E46 330Ci didn't have a problem like this, so I'm not blaming BMW. But I'm not happy with Quill's service attitude.

It's ok if my key fobs/car receiver are faulty, what's NOT ok is their unwillingness to solve problems.

I will give them 1 last chance to fix it. If that fails, I'm escalating this to BMW Malaysia.

If you're happy with Quill, then go for it ;)

I think it's more to your receiver la. You know our key fob is very complicated... Nevermind, just do whatever sensible and keep us informed with the progress. I have a back door :p

NCH.. im a having more or less the same problem as you do.. also got my car from Quill and i believe i collected mine a couple days after you..

It was ok the first few days when i collected the car.. soon after it became less and less sensitive.. fellow owners told me that it might be a weak battery so i have been inserting the key everytime i drive the car and that has not solved the problem.. ive never researched how the CA works but could the tints by any chance have some kind of effect?

I've yet to take it back to Quill but most probably will do it soon.. the "looseness" of the dash panel is bugging me.. makes my plasticky evo dash feel superior..

Hi lude,

After some extensive googling and searching on e90post, I can conclude most people will tell you it's the tinting films. that actually makes sense. because i only tinted my windows 1 week after collecting the car, and the remote didn't gimme any issues beforehand. But the signal range is pretty bad lah .. I stood 10m away from the car, no response. 5m, no response. The remote only worked when I was like 30cm away. Tried both remotes and they're just the same. No matter how tinted windows could affect the range, the situation shouldn't be so severe. I had zero problem with my 2002 E46.

but CA is still bugging me. I find it very handy to always have the key fob in my pocket, to enter the car & start the engine keylessly. I have no problem starting the engine without inserting the key fob, despite the error message. But it's just not nice to see such error on a brand new car.

I'm gonna go back to Quill again, to get 2 things fixed:

1. Vibrating/Shacking/Bouncing headlights - the cut-off line is almost never seen idea. I'm not gonna be happy if they told me it's normal due to auto-levelling function.

2. Remote controls - I took some video clips to demonstrate how severe the problem is. If Quill doesn't get it fixed, I will write to BMW Malaysia and cc to BMG AG.

They can take one whole day or even 2 days go rectify those, but I will demand a courtesy car.

How many KMs have you done? I just got rid of the RFTs today and went for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (upsetting experience at the tyre shop) and now I officially enjoy my Ultimate Driving Machine.

:)

Of course la bro! ;)

Doesn't matter where you bought your car, you can still service yours anywhere. Just go to Ingress Auto if Quill is not willing to give you satisfaction. Make an appointment for your service... INGRESS AUTO FAST LANE SERVICE :D

NCH, I share your pain.

I am experiencing the exact same problem as you. My Comfort Access is not sensitive enough and the occasional not able to detect the key inside the cabin.

I have brought my car to Ingress 3 times but they could not diagnose the problem. They said the exact same thing to me as Quill to you : no problem detected. I took delivery of my car last November.

As for the nearness of the remote control working, I believe it was designed for shorter range to prevent mugging. Not sure the exact range is, but 1m or less is my usual working remote range.

I must say that the comfort access would be handy if it's working properly. When I'm carrying my son i don't have to fumble to get my controller.

My next trip to Ingress, I will highlight this thread to them and hopefully they are able to assist me more. Would appreciate it though if you can keep me updated with this problem of yours and I will likewise do so as circumstances render us comrade in arms :D

The Convenient Access remotes do not have a rechargeable battery like the normal remotes and needs to be replaced. It could be that the system is power hungry and the batteries need replacement often.
