Recycle valve

Half year back, my e60 started losing a liter of engine oil every 2,500km or so. After the 2nd top up my mechanic suggested I change something called the recycle valve and it should solve the issue. Can anyone share what's this recycle valve and could it actually help solve the problem? I've changed it but did less than 500km.

The N52 engine tends to have the 'makan minyak' issue. Especially long distance driving , told by my mechanics.

i had that makan minyak issue before. im trying semi-synthetic 10w/40 now. no more topping engine oil...
do try it...but only last 6k km instead of 10k km
