good day to all sifu, just need ur kind advice. for E60(yr 2006 & 2007), which is better between Re-cond unregister or local used car(ABavaria), in term of accessories, engine...

Be very careful when considering recond cars as most of these cars would have come from countries with colder climates.

If you look at the literature(spec sheet) from AB, there will be a very specific option on the list called 'hot climate pack'. Warm climate(tropical) climates like ours uses a larger capacity radiator, a different rating thermostat and a host of other technical requirements.

Also, when considering a recond car, PLEASE make the dealer take the car for a full diagnostic and check the actual mileage of the car (which is recorded in the key). A lot of hanky panky can be avoided by doing this.

Hope this helps.

My 2-cent-worth:
from my own limited xperience, each hv its own +s & -s:
1) local AB:
+ warranty
+ full service records (embedded in the key, even if people temper with the car..)
+ climatized to M'sia tropical conditions
- usually have minor problems, like, broken auto/memory seats (at least on 4/5 local 525i I checked out so far...)
- not assembled in Germany..:(

2.) Japan Recond
+ usually low mileage (although this could be tempered)
+ usually very well-taken-care-of internally
- radio & navigation doesn't work!
- not climatized to our climate

3.) UK Recond
+ Readily compatible systems (radio, nav, etc)
+ CBU from Germany
- usually with high mileage and some hidden rusts
- not climatized to our climates
- usually drivers in UK are a lot rougher than in M'sia & Japan..

Since my own xperience on the "un-climatized" disadvantages on recond cars have been okay so far, I would say, if you could a find a GOOD UK recond, then go for it! Nothing could beat a German build quality!!

its a beemer, go for AB, got warranty, recond no warranty, the maintenance and change spare parts can cost approximately a new car's price or AB pre reg price.

I always prefer to buy from local CKD eventhough it is second hand as long as it i s sold from local AB. At least I know the history and has no problem to refer to them since AB do not service the recondition car

CBU local

There's always CBU Auto Bavaria units available - some from the Sapura as well.

I have a AB CBU Germany E60.

AB will service all cars provided it is within their acceptable condition. If you buy recond car, take it to AB and register with them. They need to do 24 points inspection (RM450) first before they decide whether they decide to service your car or not.. If they satisfy with your car condition then only they will agree to service your car. In most condition, Uk spec does not have problem since the whole system is original on The Japs alway have prob since the whole I drive system has been changed.

I dont quite agree with that statement...in what way do you think they are rougher? I mean they do kerb their wheels, but general driving style I would say very relaxed..very sopan santun on the road.
