I am using Falken ZE512 225 / 45 / 17. The fronts are fairly new (3-4 months), and the rears are the previous fronts. I understand BMW NA recommends against rotating F/R, as the wear patterns are very different. Makes sense.I notice that the rear blocks on the outside rear tyres are completely worn, but there’s loads of thread left towards the middle. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing loss of rear grip, even in the dry. Of course, it only makes itself felt in more exuberant moments i.e. throttling out of underpass U-turns. I run 31 psi on all 4 - I use air and rely on the petrol pump digital gauge. I have no standalone gauge.Am I correct to assume that I am now paying dearly for my folly i.e. that I should have put the new set behind? If this is the case, should I rotate them now or should I just not bother, and change all of them in due course? If so, what tyre should I go for? Max I can afford is RM500 apiece. Is nitrogen really that much more stable?Normally, I wouldn’t be too bothered about this, as the car is a daily driver. But Bukit Tinggi is round the corner. This car is costing me a fortune in tyres.

correction .... rear tyre makan inside happen to all UDM, rgdless E36 318/325/328. it is more prominent with wider tyre.me too facing this issue, just change to Dragon at rear for RM430/pcs.i down size fr 235/40 to 225/45R17". Hopefully with Dragon harder rubber will last longer than my prev ES100 la .... B)

wkwoo, when you say outside, you mean the one facing away from the car? that is odd. If that happens, you have a positive camber on the rear tires. Go get it checked if this is the case.BUT, if you have wear on the inner side (closer to the absorber/fuel tank), that is a normal problem. Anthony Ng,where 225/45/17 or 215/45/17 for Rm430/pc? I checked at Lim Tayar, RM480/pc. :(

Same here ...235/45/17 Direnza - makan dlm - all four ... using sport setupBila cross the tires, alignment setup ok but the car is going 'everywhere'.meaning tires contour pulls the car everywhere ...sigh ....

For those who have uneven tire wear (makan inside), check your trailing arm bush(?). Al

Yes, the insides are also worn, as usual.....but the outside is not very good too, due to having been used for the fronts. Alignment, etc all recently done by specialist. Need to monitor very closely. RM430 is a good price. Wet weather grip should be better too. OK, hopefully this set will last till Q2 2005....yeah, right.

RM430 at Pek Hai (Butterworth) my buddy tyre shop la ... after metal valve+alignment about RM450/pc.KL may be bit expensive, living std is higher ma ... call chic oso cost more wat, hehehe B)

Inside and outside worn = underinflated. At 31psi - no wonder. Try 32 to 34psi next time. (Mine is at 36psi)Do not rely on thjose bleeping digital air pump. There has been a few occasions when it failed to read my current tyre pressure correctly and so it released air and underinflated my tyres. My handheld tyre pressure gauge confirmed this. Give me an old "ding-ding-ding" type air pump anytime so i can manage my own pressures accurately!

Never trust the air-pressure indicator at any petrol station. Invest in a handheld unit. Michelin unit cost abt $50. Stanley brand is much cheaper .. I think I bought mine at $20.Use to run on 32 front and 34 rear (no load). Changing to 34 front and 36 rear. So far, the wear has been minimized. The ride is getting firmer but hey .. I am not complaining....

My ride also makan tayar on the insides. What I do,every 10k kms,I dismount and re-mount the tyres inside out....at the tyre shop of crs.I find this practice cost effective,as I maximize the tyre life and have even tyre wear. :)
