re-setting?

what does it means when your mechanic says "we are clearing fault code & re-setting balik setting computer".Is there such thing as re-setting or i m just being slaughtered RM150 for just clearing fault code? if so, that would be the most expensive fault code clearing i ve ever made. (i normally get it for free from my mech, hehe....or some ppl offer to charge rm50-rm70 just to plug in the comp to my car

I think what the mech meant is clear the fault codes and clear all adaptation values to default settings or values. Also RM150 just to do that is expensive bro

Some of these unscrupulous mechs think that we're stupid that we don't know we're being robbed in broad daylight. Just because they have the special tool to reset the codes doesn't mean that they have the right to charge us exorbitantly. If we had the right tools, we could have done it ourselves easily.

usually the regular mechanic should do it for FOC. your mechanic is like charging u 150 for restarting your PC

he even tell me "if the light goes up again, come here we ll fix it for you". Come for what?! to be slaughtered again? this time how u ll be charging me? rm1500?

yeah, he think just becoz they got the tools, all of us are just plain stupid..damn those mechs..

the shop is somewhere near sunway..and you are right Mouse, i normally get it for free..i ask him to take a look bcoz at the time i was installing my angel eye at his shop..

add: summore i just pay bcoz he have done it..it s my bad, i should have asked how much will he charge me to clear the fault codes. i guess i should have not think that all mechs are simply honest coz some of them aren't shame on these guys..
i dont really mind if i am paying more for something that worth it..but i m sure this one doesnt. haha!!

RM150 is just way too much, I did mine at in USJ 20 of course he didn't mentioned but he charged me RM50. No complaints there, but since there is the 21 Software Reset, i'll just do it myself.

yea...i even found mech that charged rm70..so i wont be surprised if it is rm70...
but, rm150...n worst, didnt even let me know in the first place before doing it..(i think he know if he told me, i wont agree) hehe..nvm...pm me if you want to add the workshop name to your "NEVER EVER VISIT WORKSHOP" list. ;-)

So far I've always been using Eurotech (Ah Soon) near Kota Damansara and I don't recall him ever charging anything for resetting or clearing fault codes. It should be FOC mah, as part of the service.

I got mine check at M Speed USJ for the very 1st time before I've bought my car for RM50 only. Then, the rest are FREE whenever i send my car there for servicing :top:
