Since a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that there is a slight rattling sound coming from the front air-cond when I'm in the car. Switching off the air-cond makes the sound dissapear. Also, if starting the car after it's parked under the hot sun for a few hours and leaving the AC in Auto Mode, the rattling sound gets very loud for the first few minutes as the AC cools up the cabin.Went to the SC to ask about this and they actually said: "Don't use Auto AC Mode" :stupid: I would like to get more ideas of a possible root cause before blasting the folks at the SC.Anyone has an idea or solution about this problem?

I've had this problem twice before in other cars. Once it was the blower motor giving way and needing replacement. The other time it was just a leaf getting sucked into the blower :D

The reason it gets louder when in auto mode on start up is only that the blower is spinning at max speed to cool down the car quickly. Your SC is only displaying the well known AB workshop characteristic of deflecting instead of fixing a problem :(

Best to book a slot with the workshop to check and rectify.

The blower motor sounds like a logical cause then.
It's giving way only after 1 year?? tsk tsk tsk....

I have similar problem before with my E46. After changing the blower motor, the sound gone. When the motor been taking out, I can see it was still very new, thinking that if put some grease should able to solve the problem. But dare not tell my machanic, since they told about 30mins just to take it out. Finally paid RM590 (Blower motor - RM 480, Labor - RM110) to solve the problem.

cicak will cause jam ah?

since yr of the rat, u better check if got big rat inside. hehe...

Bro, high possibility of the blower motor starting to give way. My cousin's E90 had the same problem and it was solved after changing the blower motor.

GHS, the sound probably comes from the blower motor. Is the warranty covering the blower motor? If yes, claim a new unit, if not try to service the blower motor by inspecting the blower fins and apply some grease to see if the sound goes away. Last resort is to change to a brand new blower motor. My E36 blower motor also is giving the eeek eeek eeek sound. Had it serviced that day, now sometimes get the sound, sometimes not.

If loose beltings, probably you can hear the rattling sound and hissing sound when u pop up the bonnet. Try to discover it yourself.

Goodluck

guys...is the hissing sound when turning on the A/C also could be attributed from this ?

Thx for all the inputs guys. Next up: a trip to the SC and claim claim claim :p
